A luxury villa in a luxury location above Princess Margaret Beach, Bequia, the best swimming beach on the island. Easy to go to and from the beach at any time. Jack's Bar, one of the Caribbean's most sophisticated beach restaurants, is nearby.

Princess Margaret Beach is considered one of the most beautiful in The World. When you stay there, you can enjoy it almost to yourselves early and late in the day. The villa faces west to enjoy the sunsets, which are sometimes magical. As are the views of the anchorage, beach and ocean.

No need for vehicle hire. There is a cliff-side trail into The Harbour and over to Lower Bay. Water taxis from Jack's jetty are fun and not expensive. Bequia land taxis are a unique travel experience, not expensive and the drivers will take good care of their customers.

Bequia is a yachties heaven. Many of the world's most celebrated yachts anchor offshore, both large and small. Friendship Rose, a classic schooner, offers splendid day trips to Mustique, the closest island, or to Tobago Cays. The two excellent Dive Shops accommodate divers of all levels of skill, including beginners. The dive sites are considered some of the world's most interesting. Google Moonhole or Devil's Table and there is fun snorkelling off Princess Margaret Bequia offers bars and restaurants with entertainment for all tastes.

A Shade of Blues villa offers separate living accommodations to make sharing easier. Guests can gather together on the pool and sun deck, or on the main house balcony, but can retreat to their own quarters if some privacy is preferred, or they want to eat, or cook, separately. All bedrooms have TV with built-in DVD player, and there is also one in the main house.

There are three en-suite bedrooms, all with balconies. Separate guest wc. Two full kitchens. A kitchenette and wc at the pool deck level. Media room with TV and iPOD speakers. Office space. And an exercise room. Private car park should you decide to rent a vehicle.

3 double bedrooms, 3 en-suite shower rooms, 2 guest wcs, 2 kitchens plus a pool-side kitchenette, a built-in bbq, and an exercise room.

Just great for an extended family vacation!

The Bequia region

Just a beautiful island. No large resorts. (Bequia Beach Hotel is the largest).

No crowded beaches. Indeed, some very underpopulated ones, including an offshore deserted island reachable by boat.

Friendly, relaxed, island. Perfect to unwind. And to have fun! Many visitors return year after year.

Bequia is very popular with the yachting and motor boat community. The World's finest visit Bequia. Special sailing and motor boat trips are on offer, for day trips or longer. Mustique is the closest island. St Vincent is 9 miles away. The other Grenadine islands including Tobago Cays are all reachable in a day trip.

Diving is internationally respected, with a good choice of sites and full support from two very good dive shops. Visit Dive Bequia or Dive Adventures web sites for more info.

Good walking territory with stunning views of St Vincent & The Grenadines.

Great choice of bars and restaurants, with or without entertainment by musicians, the owner, or indeed the customers! Keegans movie nights are unique - a large screen under the stars with the sound of the waves lapping behind you...whilst you watch the movie with a rum or beer in your hand.

Tropical climate with an always warm sea....perfect to escape northern winters.

Special times include Christmas and New Year (an all-niter with Fireworks on Old Year's Night), Bequia Music Fest in January, Easter Regatta, Bequia Carnival in June.

Arrive by ferry from St Vincent, or by small plane on a private airline with daily service to The Grenadines from Barbados.

Princess Margaret Beach

There is a debate about which is The Best Beach on Bequia. Many, perhaps the majority, consider Princess Margaret to be the best.

Princess Margaret is off the main road. Undeveloped except for Jack's Bar - a sophisticated Caribbean beach bar restaurant. Has white sand, a clear sea, good snorkeling around the headland. It is often without many people except when the cruise ships dislodge their passengers, and even then it is not that crowded and you can find quiet space. There are less surges at Princess Margaret when the seas are churnin. Guests at A Shade of Blues can easily choose when to take their swims as the beach is conveniently close.

Lower Bay is the competition. A longer beach with white sand and space and a local community to add interest. It is on the main road with some traffic noise, and offers more beach bars and restaurants. Mango's in particular has loud soca music and the noise from Penthouse drifts across after midnight (it is not music when it reaches Lower Bay!).

There are other magical beach environments on Bequia, but none of them as good for swimming. Friendship gets more surges and wave action. Industry and Spring are shallow with weed and urchin. Hope has a dangerous current unless you are expert. All beautiful places to be though. Hope requires a long trek with the gear on very rough paths, but a special place for a picnic or bbq - you can often have it completely to yourselves.

A Shade of Blues owner will not swim at The Harbour beaches.

Princess Margaret community has a few private villas, A Shade of Blues being one of them, and the newest (2010). The community is also known as Tony Gibbons. A visit by British royalty changed the name and Tony Gibbons was forgot.

Jack's Bar jetty offers a convenient dock for the tender or water taxi rides across The Harbour. A lovely way to travel to Deckhouse for supper or Sunday brunch or into The Harbour - under starry skies at night!
