Situated half way between Ludlow and Hay-on-Wye, the spacious cottage, filled with country antiques, has stunning views across delightful walking country. Nearby Presteigne, a delightful borders town nestling on the River Lugg, boasts the award winning Judge's Lodging Museum, and a good selection of shops, cafes, wine bar & pubs. With fine walks from the front door, the cottage is close to some of the best preserved and most beautiful stretches of the Offa's Dyke Path National Trail. The cathedral city of Hereford, Croft Castle & Berrington Hall (both National Trust properties), the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, the Cambrian Mountains and the spectacular Victorian dams in the Elan Valley are all a scenic drive away. A Michelin star pub is10-minutes drive away.

The cottage is well insulated and has full central heating which keeps it cosy & warm in cold weather. To keep warm it is not necessary to light the range in the inglenook fireplace in the downstairs sitting room. The solid fuel Victorian range is an attractive period feature and guests are welcome to light it if they wish. Coal and firelighteres are not included in the price.
Free wi-fi is available in the price. Please note wifi is for personal use only, and rural broadband is not fast and subject to occasional interruption. Mobile phone reception is poor in the immediate vicinity.

The cottage has its own small private garden. Guests are welcome to use to enjoy the landscaped gardens of the owners' adjacent property.
The normal start date/time for weekly bookings is Friday at 4pm. Weekend lets can start on Friday or Saturday. Mid week lets start on Mondays. If you require a different start day, please contact us and, if possible, we will be flexible, especially for longer bookings or closer to the arrival date.
Arrival time: from 4pm on start date. Leaving time: by 10am on day of departure.

Booking Confirmation: Bookings will be confirmed by the credit card payment (not Amex or Diners) of a non-refundable deposit of £100. The balance of the rental will be deducted from the guest's credit card 10 weeks (70 days) before the commencement of the holiday, or at the time of booking if less than 10 weeks before the start date.

The Powys/Brecon Beacons region
Vicarage Cottage, on the edge of the village of Norton, nestles in a green valley close the Herefordshire/Powys border. This area, known as the Welsh Marches, is a hidden joy. Small villages set in rolling hills straddle the border in delightful unspoiled countryside. It is a place to walk, relax and get close to nature. A scenic drive away are Ludlow, Hay on Wye, Hereford (cathedral), Shrewsbury, Leominster, Croft Castle & Berrington Hall (both National Trust), Brecon Beacons, Malvern Hills, the Elan Valley (with its impressive series of Victorian dams) and the AA has rated the drive to Aberystwyth as one of the most beautiful in Europe.
Norton is a quiet village set in green, rolling hills close to the small country town of Presteigne. Presteigne boasts the award winning Judge's Lodging Museum and an Arts Festival (every August Bank Holiday). The nearby Titley Jazz Festival takes place at the end of July and the world-renowned Hay on Wye Arts Festival is at the end of May/beginning of June. Food Festivals: Shobdon - June; Ludlow - September; Abergavenny - September; Hereford - October. Presteigne, and Knighton which is 4 miles away, have excellent local shops, including butchers, greengrocer, fish shop, baker and small supermarkets.
