Trallwyn Converted Cowshed
Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 5
This beautifully converted farm building is full of character and charm with thick curvy stone walls and beams. It has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen inspired by the architectural ideas of Rudolf Steiner.
Downstairs is open plan with oak flooring. The kitchen has a Rayburn for Winter use, a gas hob and electric oven and fitted kitchen. There is a pine dining area and the living room has two settees and a wood burning stove. It has a double bedroom, a twin bedded galleried bedroom and a single sleeping loft. Please note that the single sleeping loft is through an archway from the galleried bedroom + that it is not possible to stand in it...it is very popular with children. The whole building is quite open plan and different and quirky! Outside there is a small pond to the front (mostly fenced) and table chairs and bench. There is direct access to the moor with sheep and wild ponies. Gors Fawr stone circle, 5000 years old, is just 5 minutes walk from the cottages.

"magic naturalness in a place of beauty"
Loved my stay at Anna's "cowshed"..all wooden beams and sensuously shaped windows-see them yourself to see what I mean.
Anna had some musical friends staying at the time and she kindly invited me to join their sing song and tunes around a campfire on the moor. I'M GLAD I'D BROUGHT MY GUITAR! !

"A very special place"
As a regular visitor to Anna's for the past fifteen years I could be in danger of saying too much. My desire to return to this tranquil hideaway in the wild and elemental greens of north Pembrokeshire speaks for itself. From the initial drive up the path to the converted cowshed to departure on my final day I have forever been charmed and calmed by both the property and its lush surroundings and yes by that little bit of magic in the land itself. Anna is a warm an welcoming presence but also low key and it is her love for this place that infuses its way into the holiday experience I believe.
From meandering in the moors by day to gazing at the stars at night and absorbing that all to rare taste of silence, a stay in the cowshed is rejuvenating and refreshing. Enough said, I think.

"Wonderfully relaxing retreat and holiday"
I've stayed at Tralllwyn cottages several times now, the location is outstanding, situated on moorland in the Preselli Mountains,Pembrokeshire and not far from the coast, it's ideally situated whatever your interests. For me one of the best things about this holiday is the peaceful, cosy and unusual accommodation. In the Cowshed Cottage you could almost be in a Hobbit style home, with a lovely round window overlooking the moor and standing stone circle and the childrens bedroom which is like a den area, an adventure for the kids! The cottage has a lovely woodburner for those chillier days and I enjoy making pottery with Anna an accomplished artisan and the owner of the cottages, when I am visiting, so I always get to take home a hand crafted reminder of my stay. We love this place!

"Delightful Cowshed in magical countryside."
When we entered Anna's Cowshed at Trallwyn we were amazed to find such a quirky, delightful little place. There was a welcoming atmosphere with fresh flowers in hand thrown vases and essential oils burning. Our 2 children (aged 7 and 15) immediately explored the tiny cottage, delighted in finding games, shells, rugs, nooks and crannies. We enjoyed many walks on the Moor and loved the Stone Circle and Dreaming Stone. The weather was awful while we were there but it was easy to drive out to other places in Pembrokeshire and my husband really enjoyed cycling his road bike up and down the hills. Our favourite things were the wood burning stove and collecting dried gorse to help light it, we also had a great time making pottery with Anna.

"Mind blowing Cowshed holiday!!"
Well, what can I say? The Richards family had such a great time we were not happy to leave!
The converted Cowshed is such an incredible building and such a warm and inspiring place - it's truly unique! The photos of it, just don't quite manage to capture the magic...
And that's not to mention the surroundings, and of course... Anna!
Inside, it is so organic, everything is wooden and rounded, beautiful oak floors and thick stone walls that seem to bend to fit the space...
We had many an enjoyable evening cosying up on the sofas and watching the fire...
The kids loved the 'mouse-hole' which is a little tiny room upstairs that you have to crawl to get into, so the only sore point of the holiday was deciding who was going to get to sleep in it!
It's set in Anna's mini complex of wild yet beautifully tended gardens and unusual building projects... and of course, her pottery workshop..
There is a gate onto a wild and cleansing moorland, with sheep, ponies and ancient stone circle just 5 minutes walk away!!
It is so rural and cut off that it almost feels like a dream now!
We enjoyed also doing all the touristy things like folly farm, oakwood, and the dolphin spotting boat trip ... as well as discovering the local beaches and getting lost in the car!
It's definitely worth having the directions of how to get there in the car and not relying on the sat nav!
Thanks anna! I wouldn't normally bother to write a review, but it was by far the best holiday we've had as a family for a long time.... you'll be seeing us again!
With love, Sue Richards and family xx

"Our 5th visit and we'll be back again."
I don't want to say too much in case competition for bookings increases. We come here to relax and it works every time. Cosy, comfortable and fully equipped. Great location if you and your family like to spend time out of doors in the day and snuggle inside in the evening (we always visit in October). The moors are great, the nearby coastline beautiful. The girls, now aged 8 and 10, have loved this place for years. It's a happy place. Anna, the owner is friendly and welcoming.
