This tranquil apartment in Estrela da Luz contains 2 bedrooms ( one twin , one double) and 2 bathrooms, linen and towels are provided for use. Cots and Extra beds are available if needed.
The kitchen is very well equipped, including dishwasher, microwave cooker, washing machine etc There is air conditioning available in the apartment incl the bedrooms and is operated by remote control, as is the DVD, TV, Mini system and satellite.
Master bedroom is en suite while second bedroom is adjacent to the main bathroom.
For winter residents, the apartment is heated with under-floor heating and the air conditioning can be used for boost heating if required. There is a lift from the basement car-park or ground floor, an electronic key for the underground car park can be got from reception.
Access to the resort is controlled by electronic gates, and private security so you can relax in the knowledge that you are in a secure environment.
There is a kids club organised during the summer months, ask at reception for details while there are tennis, golf and soccer camps available for the older kids. There are boat trips for dolphin watching and deep sea fishing is also popular.
There are 2 Pool areas - a family / children's and an adults section. The latter being ideal for reading and taking the odd dip to cool down, while the family pool has a paddling pool and a swimming pool.
There is a snack bar in the pool area during the day, while Hugo's ( bar restaurant ) serves food until 10 pm, it closes at 1 am. There is wireless broadband in Hugos and there are 2 computers. This seems to be a big attraction in the evening / night time for the 8 - 13 year olds as is the adjacent games room

There is a camp bed available upon request for a fifth guest.
The apartment is unusual in that it contains a 15 foot window which maximises the view of the sea.
If cots, camp beds, meals etc are required then that can be arranged via reception.

The underground parking is a gift during the summer months when you want to keep the car cool. The designated car spot for the apartment is adjacent to the lift, which facilitates the very young, and elderly.
Breakages need to be reported to reception and paid for at check out.

The Algarve / West Algarve region
Sun filled days and blue flagged beaches, history and culture, good food, excellent accommodation, great service and true value for money; these are the ingredients that combine to make a fantastic holiday in the Western Algarve. A pleasant drive from Faro International airport on the new motorway, the Western Algarve with it's tranquil beaches and sheltered coves is like no other part of Portugal.
The Praia da Luz / Estrela da Luz area
Luz is a small sleepy traditional Portuguese village that is still unspoilt by development. The beach and pace of life make it ideal for a very relaxing holiday. From the atmospheric Fortaleza overlooking the rugged cliffs, you can stroll along the promenade towards the beautiful beach, and why not enjoy a coffee along the way in one of the many small sea front restaurants. ( I do!).
There is plenty to do if you are looking for more active pursuits with 4 golf courses, horse riding, and a water sports school ( jet ski, boats, wind surfing, etc) nearby.
At night there are lots of restaurants and a few pubs to liven things up.
How to get there

Ryanair, Easyjet, Aer lingus, etc all fly to Faro.
On leaving Faro airport head for the A22 in the direction of Lisboa (Lisbon) and Portimao.
Leave the A22 at exit 1.
Straight through the first roundabout ( no choice).
Take the 1st exit ( right) at the second roundabout towards Vila De Bispo.
Take the turn left for Luz after the camping ground which you will see on the right had side. Please note this is actually the second sign for Luz.
As you enter Luz the road goes downhill towards the sea Estrela de Luz is on your right near the small national school. Its distinctive design and colour make it easy to see.

The apartment provided a great base from which to explore Luz and the surrounding areas.
It is in a great location, close to many good bars and restaurants and only a short 10 minute walk down the hill towards the beach. With a car, it was great for exploring up the west coast to some of the smaller pretty beaches towards Sagres too, (though the Luz beach was also fantastic itself, expecially for the children).
The Estrella complex is very well maintained with great pool facilities for both adults and children. The apartment itself was beautiful and far more than we had ever expected. Split over 2 levels, it offers great views out to the coast. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Highly recommended.
