Villa Laranja
About the home
Villa Laranja is an exceptional, modern new villa with stunning sea views in the beautiful family resort of Praia da Luz. It has the luxury of being approximately a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) from the beach and the town's many bars and restaurants.
However, the villa still retains a high degree of privacy by being situated in a quiet residential cul-de-sac. Situated on the ground floor is the brand new, fully fitted kitchen. This leads through to the stunning circular dining room which follows into the spacious, open and well appointed lounge.
Two sets of large patio doors open up onto the terrace and private pool area and offers wonderful views of the town and coastline.

The lounge has three brand new leather sofas, 42' plasma TV, free view satellite TV, DVD / CD player, and PS2. There is also a real log burning stove should the evenings get chilly! The villa and heated pool have fabulous sea views and there is a permanent brick built BBQ. The pool has steps suitable for kids.
Villa Laranja is a stunning, modern new villa. It has stunning sea views from the pool area, the ground floor of the villa but best of all from the upstairs terraces and bedrooms!
The villa is very spacious and has a very 'social' open planned feel to it. It is perfect for groups of friends or family holidays.
Situated on the ground floor is the brand new, fully fitted and very well equipped kitchen. This leads through to the stunning circular dining room which follows into the spacious, open and well appointed lounge.
All bedrooms are well appointed with fitted wardrobes and comfortable beds. Every room has an en suite bath or showroom, balcony or terrace. The master bedroom also has a flat screen TV and one of the twin rooms has a TV/DVD player. All double bedrooms have hair-dryers also.
Villa Laranja is situated at the top of a hill so a car would be necessary for the elderly, small children or less mobile people
Further details outdoors:
Behind the gated entrance, there is a carport, garage and secure parking which easily fits 4 cars.
To the rear of the villa we have a large terrace area around the pool which is spacious with many excellent quality sun loungers, drinks tables and umbrellas. On the terrace near the large built in BBQ, we have 2 large tables and chairs for al fresco dining!!
Our heated pool is 10m x 5m and has large steps that are great for young children in the shallow end.
There is also a table and chairs on the first floor balcony, which is a great sun trap and a fabulous place for pre dinner drinks and/or perhaps a game of cards whilst watching the sunset and enjoying the stunning sea views.
Praia da Luz is a lovely family orientated resort towards the quieter Western end of the Algarve coast. The beach is long and sandy and backed by a beautiful palm tree lined promenade. It has numerous restaurants, bars and shops. The larger town of Lagos is only a 10-minute drive away and this has a more cosmopolitan night-life along with a lovely marina, loads more restaurants and shops and several sandy beaches.
The Algarve is famous for its fabulous golf courses and the closest are Boavista and Parque da floresta which are both a 5-10 min drive. As Villa Laranja is so close to all these amenities car hire is not essential although we would recommend it to allow exploration of the lovely Algarve coastline, mountains and towns.

The Algarve / West Algarve region

The amazing thing about the western Algarve is that there is so much to see and do in such a wonderful climate.
Exploring the coast and finding little bays tucked in the cliffs with wonderful fish restaurants, or driving inland to say "Monchique" and see its spa of 2000 yrs.
Wander the countryside and see how the cork trees are grown or go to the old walled town of "Silves" with its medieval castle and Cathedral or even travel to the most south westerly points of Europe to the fort at "Cape St. Vincent" and "Sagres"(approx 20mls).
The Algarve is now so accessible with the new road network that you can investigate new areas easily.
Here it's still possible to walk around the old city walls, some dating back to the 15th & 16th centuries & then, of course, there is this wonderful, outstanding natural coastline to admire especially by the "Ponta da Piedade" lighthouse.
For sport, obviously, its a golfers paradise as it is for any water sports, scuba diving or fishing &, for that matter, also for tennis, horse riding, cycling, walking or bird watching & much more - even Jeep safaris!
The sea is clean & mainly shallow for a long while before you go to any depth. Also there are a few Zoos in the area. Lagos Zoo at "Barao Sao Joao" is the nearest & like all modern Zoos they concentrate on preservation & conservation & Omega Park (on the road to Monchique) specialises in different species of monkeys.
So, all in all, you can be assured you should never get bored around here.
The Praia da Luz / Quinta da Bela Vista area
The beautiful sandy beach of Praia da Luz is a 2 minute drive (15 minute walk) away. Praia da Luz retains the charm and character of a traditional Portuguese fishing village yet offers excellent facilities to compliment the fabulous broad and safe sandy beach which also has some great rock pools for the children.
These include many restaurants, pubs, beach bars, shops and local amenities - not to mention its romantic traffic free promenade. This small quiet resort is perfect for a family beach holiday. Luz has a water sports centre offering jet skis, banana boats and windsurfing, etc.
From the Villa it is a 15 minute stroll into Luz or approximately a 2-3 minute car drive to the heart of the town. Also close at hand is the beautiful fishing village of Burgau, nestled on the edge of the national park, it is still a working fishing village and steep narrow cobbled streets lead down to an outstanding sandy beach surrounded by cliffs. Burgau has, amazingly for its size, a good amount of restaurants, bars, shops etc.
The walk to Burgau along the cliffs is breathtaking and takes approx 50 mins. from the Villa but, if you prefer, it takes less than 5 mins to go by car. Burgau Sports Centre offers a range of children’s sports including tennis, football, hockey, touch rugby, running races, swimming races, diving competitions, baseball and rounders.
Lagos is an absolute jewel in the Algarve crown which offers a balance between charm and history. Lagos is our closest town, being 7 minutes drive from the Villa. It is one of the oldest, and largest towns in the Algarve. Still a fishing town, with gaily-painted fishing boats lining the harbour, it is also a major market centre for the region and many people consider Lagos the most likeable town on the Algarve coast, with its beautiful marina and although steeped with history dating back to the 15th century, it is now a youthful town with a refreshing and relaxed charm all of its own.
Set within a still largely intact set of Roman walls, the centre of Lagos is a maze of winding cobbled streets full of pavement restaurants, cafes bars and antique and art shops. There is plenty to do and see here whether its exploring its lovely historic past or to shop, dine or just to watch the world go by!
There is a large selection of places to eat here and fresh fish is a speciality at many of the restaurants. There is lots of night-life to enjoy too. Cocktails seem to have become a Lagos speciality and you will find plenty of bars in which to sample them. Also wander around the marina admiring the yachts or hire a boat to go fishing or to watch the dolphins and here they also offers boat trips to the grottoes and caves around the coast. Lagos is a 10 minute drive from the villa and it is very easy to get a taxi there and back (about €7 each way)
The resort of Parc de Floresta is a 10 minute drive away and offers golf, riding, squash, a gym and beauty salon. The western tip of Portugal is a 15 minute drive away and in this area you will experience the local atmosphere. Four top class golf courses are within 30 minutes drive of the villa. Boavista(2-3 minutes), Parc de Floresta (10 minutes), Palmares and Penina.

Guestbook for Villa Laranja
What a place!
I stayed here for a week in July 2008 with some friends and had the best time ever.
The Villa is so well decorated in a modern style but also comfortable and very spacious. The Villa was clean and well-maintained.
The location was also first class with bars and restaurants a walk away although if you want to stay at the Villa and eat, the barbecue was fun and the kitchen was well equipped and huge!!!
I can't think of anything negative to say about the Villa or the location. Would definitely return.
We have spent a couple of wonderful holidays at this great Villa.
The location is great, with a manageable walk to the gorgeous beach, and the centre of Praia de Luz, where there are some nice restaurants and bars.
The views are spectacular and the villa is equipped with everything you could need - especially if you have young children and need children's plates and bowls etc.
Its very well maintained and is very spacious, meaning you can get away from each other and enjoy your own space when holidaying with other families. We would definitely go back.
We have now stayed in this villa twice now and thoroughly enjoyed it on both occasions. The villa is spacious, luxurious and fully equipped. There is a lovely pool and amazing views of the sea, which is only a short walk away.
There are nice restaurants a short walk away, but we stayed in most evenings enjoying the villa and using the well equipped BBQ area to cook fantastic food from the large supermarket which is only a 10 minute drive away. I highly recommend a stay here. Everything necessary for a really great holiday.
What can I say. I stayed with some friends at this villa in Oct and had a fantastic time. On arrival at the villa, what immediately strikes you is how homely the villa feels and how clean it is. The villa is decorated stylishly but without making it feel that you daren't touch anything!
You couldn't fault the cleanliness either. It is equipped with everything you could possibly need the owners clearly have a keen eye for attention to detail! It has numerous different outside seating areas as well as plenty of sun loungers. The views are stunning as you look out onto the expanse of sea. And if the weather is scorching as it was when we were out there, there always seems to be a lovely breeze to cool you down.
Praia da Luz itself is lovely. If you haven't hired a car, you don't need to. You can wander down to the town where there is a beautiful beach and numerous great restaurants and bars. If you do hire a car, there's plenty of nice places to visit in the surrounding area to break the holiday up. I have stayed in numerous villas over the years and this one by far surpassed them. The homely feel made us all relax as soon as we arrived and made for a brilliant holiday.
A gem of villa you'll return to again & again...
The only negative thing I can say about Villa Laranja is that the photos simply don't do it justice - it is so much bigger, airier, better furnished and decorated than it appears.
I've just returned from my 3rd trip in 4 years, unusually for me as I never normally go to the same place more than once BUT Luz and the surrounding area have so much to offer, and the villa is simply superb. I have been burnt before by villas that don't live up to their descriptions, but Villa Laranja really is perfect - impeccably clean, with everything you need to hand, so much thought and consideration has gone into it's set up.
We were 12 people but never felt on top of each other or over-crowded, it really is so spacious. Luz is a delightful village with some gorgeous bars and restaurants, all of which cater for families. The walks along the coastline are breathtaking and highly recommended or jump in the car and explore the surrounding countryside, villages and towns plus the surf at Lagos is amazing (as well as the shops!) Once again I've returned from Villa Laranja desperate to know when I can next visit...I couldn't recommend this villa more highly!
