The Algarve region

From Faro airport it is possible to hire a car or get a taxi. There is a train service to Lagos and you can get a taxi from there. Should you want to hire a car from the airport, it is mostly motor way (A22) to Luz and takes about 50 minutes.

The Algarve region is located from the south west corner along to the border of Southern Spain, hence the weather is always warm throughout the year. It is renowned for it's many lovely sandy beaches and there are places of interest to visit,if you can drag yourself away from the beach or the pool

There is a good choice of lively and quieter resorts and many golf courses, something for everybody. The local people are very friendly and every amenitiy is on hand. A great place to relax with a good choice of hotels or self catering apartments and villas for every kind of holiday choice.

Praia da Luz

Praia da Luz, meaning "Beach of Light" was originally a fishing village and although the area has been built up over the years it has not been over-developed. All new buildings have been controlled by the Local Government to maintain that they are in keeping with the area and are tastefully done. They have restricted all new builds to a maximum of two storey.

The large sandy beach is wide and stretches along to the cliffs, giving plenty of space for everybody even in high season. There are supermarkets, shops, many good restaurants and beach front cafes. There are sea-sport facilities on the beach plus the facility of booking trips such as dolphin spotting. It has a certain charm that brings families and generations back many times after their first visit, as we have done.
