This fabulous penthouse apartment, (just 200 meters from the beach in the beautiful seaside village of Praia da Luz), is part of the brand new award winning Estrela da Luz four star resort. The apartment has c.160m2 of space including three balconies with sliding patio doors covered by automatic shutters leading to large south facing terrace with sea views and which also overlook the resort pools and mature gardens, with seating for 6 getting the sun until sunset. Accommodation includes a double bedroom with en-suite and two twin bedrooms (three separate bathrooms in total) with an additional mezzanine bedroom area off the living area containing a sofa bed which could sleep one extra adult or two children under 12.
Since opening in spring 2005 Estrela da Luz has gained an impressive reputation for its outstanding quality, exceptional facilities and value for money and has become a much sought after location for an enjoyable holiday in the Western Algarve - as featured on Channel 4’s ‘A Place in the Sun’.
The kitchen is a modern fitted kitchen fully integrated with hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher, microwave and is fitted with top of the range brand name appliances, with utensils for 8 or more people and a huge living / dining area.
This apartment has everything you could possibly want in holiday accommodation. The stunning, light filled double height living room, which has been beautifully furnished for the owners use, allows you to live in exceptional comfort and has a flat screen TV with a full range of satellite channels (BBC, UTV sky etc.), DVD player and Mini sound system. There is a lift from the basement car-park or ground floor. Access to the resort is controlled by electronic gates and has 24 hour security with cameras constantly monitoring the resort and surrounding area.
A 5 minute walk to the lovely promenade leads down to the white sandy Praia da Luz beach, which is sheltered by sandstone cliffs, fringed by rock pools and offers a wide range of water sports, and beach cafés. The large beach is idea for families. The area is a golfer’s paradise with 3 top class courses within 30 minutes with discounted green fees available.
You will also be amazed by the resorts range of facilities which include 2 outdoor heated pools, indoor heated pool, kid’s pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, spa treatment rooms, fully equipped gym, restaurant, bars, There is a separate activity area with basketball / 5-a-side court, tennis court and kids playground. There is a kids club during the summer which has been a great success and keeps the kids active and amused with activities for all ages. The kids club is separate from the pools/gardens so the resort is great for those without kids too with plenty of peaceful areas. Other features of the apartment include air conditioning throughout, under floor heating, basement parking, local and satellite TV, with cleaning and maid service during your stay if requested The reception staffs are very helpful and can organize activities such as golf, horse riding, etc at discount rates. There is a free shuttle bus which runs regularly to and from the resort to Lagos, Meia Praia, and the 2 main local golf clubs Boavista and Palmares. Luz is an ideal location if you play golf with 3 excellent courses within 30 minutes and many more beyond.
The Estrela health and beauty salon in the complex offer a wide range of Elemis treatments for the face and body. You can also treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure or a relaxing massage.
The Hugo Beaty Cafe and Bar serves great food and drinks all day. The Steve Davis clubroom with it's championship pool table is another addition to this amazing complex.
The magnificent Boa vista golf club is a 5 min drive away, Palmares and Parque da Floresta 15 min and Pennina just 20 mins away. Zoomarine and Lagos zoo are also easily accessible

Everyone that has been to stay at this new apartment so far has had a brilliant time in Luz and Lagos. There's so much to do there, but even if you just want to relax in the apartment and use the resort facilities you won't be disappointed.
The family friendly resort Estrela da Luz resort is located right in the beachside village of Luz and so everything is on your doorstep - restaurants, bars, shops and of course the beach is within 200m. The Praia da Luz beach is a beautiful sandy bay shaded by cliffs to the east and smooth rock outcrop to the west. Great waves for body boarding and plenty of restaurants and cafes within easy reach. The village itself is an old fishing village which has retained its old style charm. The atmosphere is always relaxed and the locals are very hospitable. There is a great selection of restaurants with seafood and other specialties. The Baptista Supermarket offers daily fresh vegetables as well as an in-house bakery. A bank, post office and excellent medical centre ensure you have access to all essential services if required.
The port town of Lagos is just 10 minutes drive away (€6 taxi) with its Modern Marina offering sea fishing and dolphin watching and old town centre which has a huge variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Lagos is lively and great to visit at night for food, drink and a stroll through the cobble streets. The shops are great for presents and souvenirs especially local ceramics and jewellery.

Beaches The local beach in Praia da Luz, is a very safe and sandy beach with beach bar cafes over looked by the famous black cliff and is only a 5 minute stroll from the apartment. In addition there are several other beaches a short 5 - 10 minute drive from Luz. Meia Pria which runs in front of Lagos which boasts an amazing 4 kilometer stretch of white sand, There is a wind surfing centre on the beach as well as many restaurants; Dona Anna, Porto de Mos, Camillo, Salema and Burgau are all more favourites. These are family friendly with excellent facilities. A little further one can visit the west cost with its wild and beautiful beaches. The enormous waves on these beaches make them extremely popular with surfers.

Praia da Luz / Estrela da Luz area

Day Trips - Take a drive into the stunning green mountains of Monchique. The drive enjoys a stunning vista of sea and mountains bringing you to Foia at 900 meters which is the highest point in the Algarve. Visit Caldas de Monchique, the hot springs for which Monchique is famous. Try some chicken piri-piri for lunch washed down by some delicious Vino Verde. Head out of Lagos on the N125 towards Sagres taking a detour via Ponte de Piedade, a high rock formation hollowed out by the seas below. From there continue to Sagres and Cape Vincent the most westerly point in Europe with its fortress and superb views of the west coast. The Bravura is a man made lake, a beautiful and peaceful spot where you can relax and enjoy nature. It is certainly worth a drive to Vilo de Bispo and Aljiezur to visit the wild and beautiful beaches at Castelejo, Cordams, Odeceixe, Amonoriera Borderia and Amado. Take the exiting dolphin safari trip from the marina or the Bom Dia boat for an interesting and relaxing day trip

Golf information - 5min from Luz is the Howard Swan designed Boavista Golf Course. This is an 18 hole par 71 championship golf course situated overlooking the Atlantic and Lagos town. Its combination of design, location and the sheer variety of holes make this a great golf experience. Boavista also has the benefit of a driving range and a teaching academy. 15 minutes form Luz is the scenic and serene Palmaris course, an 18 hole par 72 that perfectly combs beach and mountain scenery. This is reflected by its links outward 9 and a hillier parkland back 9. Palmaris boasts what is generally agreed as being the most striking 1st hole in the Algarve. 20 minute drive from Luz is The legendary Penina course. This is the master work of legendary Henry Ccotton and is the first golf course to grace the algarve. This championship course has been 5 times host to the Portuguse open, a par 73, it requires length and accuracy to score well. Also a 20 minute drive is the new course of Mogado. This is a stunning par 72 with imaginative and challenging holes bring out the best in your golf. Another 20 minute drive will bring you to the superb Parque de Floresta golf resort. An 18 hole par 72 is laid out through hills and valleys which are blanketed by flowers in spring. It provides a good and attractive challenge with lakes and rivers to negotiate and with spectacular views of the Atlantic to the south side.

How to get there

Fly to Faro Airport - Estrella da Luz is 80km (approx 50 mins drive) from the airport (mostly motorway)
There are always Taxis available charging between €80 and €100 for up to 4 people. Ask first !!!
There is also a train service from Faro to Lagos and a 6km Taxi ride from there will cost approx €10.

If you are driving:
From Faro, take the A22 in the direction of Lisboa and Portimao. Take Exit 1 off the A22, signposted for Lagos.
Straight through the first roundabout and right off the second roundabout heading for Vila Da Bispo/Sagres.

Ignore the first left hand turn for Luz just after Boa Vista Golf. Instead take the second turn left signposted for Luz (after the camping ground on the right had side). As you enter Luz the road goes downhill towards the sea Estrela de Luz is on your right near the small national school. Call to reception where they will provide you with all the necessary information, your key and a remote control for the underground parking.
