Home description
Casa Vida Nova has just been fully renovated, and can be considered a new house. It is very well specified and equipped, and is ideal for 4 adults and 2 children. It is in a quiet village, and is within 3 minutes drive of beautiful beaches and golf courses, and the historic town of Lagos is only 5 KM away. There are superb views towards the Monchique mountains from the roof terrace, and the private courtyard with lemon and orange trees is a real sun trap. The house does not have a swimming pool, but is ideal if you prefer to get away from the busier tourist accommodation in Praia da Luz.

The Algarve region
There are 4 main reasons why The Algarve is so poular as a holiday destination for the British; the superb all year round climate, the stunning scenery (particularly the western Algarve), the golf courses, and the friendly local people. The medieval town of Lagos, which is only 5km from our house, sits on a hillside overlooking the harbour, an impressive new marina, and a wide bay of golden sand. It's picturesque cobbled streets have a superb selection of modern shops, markets, restaurants and pavement cafes. At night, there are street entertainers, lively bars and discos. Those seeking culture can visit the many galleries, museums and ancient monuments. There are several first class golf courses nearby, including Palmares, Quinta da Boavista, and Parque da Floresta.
Praia da Luz / Espiche area
The village of Espiche is about 1.5 km from the resort of Praia da Luz. It has a handfull of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance from the house, but is a typical sleepy Portuguese village with lots of narrow streets and walkways. Praia da Luz, on the other hand, is a bustling small town in the summer season, which overlooks a pretty sheltered bay, and has a very safe sandy beach and some amazing rock formations. It is well supplied with restaurants and beach bars, and there are some excellent cliff walks to neighbouring villages. There is a watersports school and a scuba diving centre. Whilst Luz beach can get busy in the summer, there are lots of quiet beaches within a few miles along the coast heading west.
How to get there
There are serveral low cost airlines which fly from the UK to Faro, such as Jet2.com, Thomsonfly.com, and easyJet.com. The house is approx. 1 hour 10 minutes drive from Faro airport. It is an easy journey, and is quiet motorway almost all the way. We have a discount arrangement with a local hire car company, who will meet you at the airport. Alternatively, there is a train from Faro to Lagos (the nearest town to the house), or there is an excellent low cost minibus service directly from the airport to the house.

Further details indoors: The Master Bedroom has a king sized bed, en-suite bathroom, walk in wardrobe, air-conditioning (which also heats and de-humidifies), and patio doors onto the courtyard. The 2nd Bedroom has twin beds, built in wardrobes, air conditioning, and is next to the house bathroom with large shower. The 3rd Bedroom is ideal for 2 children. It has bunk beds (adult sized), and has en-suite toilet and hand basin. The Sitting Room has a log burning fireplace, satellite TV, air conditioning, and patio doors onto the courtyard. The fully equipped and air conditioned Kitchen has a sitting area, large patio doors opening onto the courtyard, and adjoins the dining room. There is also a utility room, with washing machine, and 2 storage rooms.
Further details outdoors: There is a gated driveway for secure parking, however, as this is a safe quiet area and the house is on a cul-de-sac, we normally park on the road outside the house. There is a door into the cobbled courtyard, where there are flower beds, a lemon tree and an orange tree. There is an automatic irrigation system. There is a table and chairs for al fresco dining. Steps from the courtyard lead up to the roof terrace, where there are sun loungers, table and chairs.
Further details
We have a local English speaking villa management agent who will be available to help with any queries. We also have a house information book which also gives advice about local facilities and places to eat. We have a maid who comes to clean the house twice a week. We are flexible on changeover days, especially out of season, but prefer weekend changeovers. The renovation of the house was only recently finished, and we are currently (April/May 07) furnishing and equipping the house, so for the summer of 2007, everything will be new. Rentals will start from July. We are charging a lower than normal rental rate to attract clients this year, as our advertising is rather late!
Conditions
Our house is suitable for elderly holiday makers, as it is on one level (except for the roof terrace). It is safe for young children as there is no pool, and the courtyard is fully enclosed, however, it is advised that young children must be constantly supervised by a responsible adult when on the roof terrace. We ask for a 25% deposit on booking, and the balance should be paid 6 weeks prior to departure. If you wish to discuss long term rental, please contact us. Casa Vida Nova is a non-smoking house. Smoking should be restricted to the roof terrace.

NB: Prices may be subject to change at the owner's discretion. Please note that for Low Season rentals, there will be a locally charged fuel supplement of 25 euros per week as a contribution towards the electricity costs as the air conditioning heater system is expensive to run. Logs for the fire will be at guests' expense. 25% of rental cost is payable on booking, and the balance should be paid 6 weeks prior to departure. We require a breakages deposit of £100 which (assuming no damage/breakages) is fully refundable within 7 days of your departure from Casa Vida Nova.
