Both the nearby villages of Luz and Burgau still retain some of their traditional charm with cobbled streets, shops, bars and restaurants. The area offers most water sports including wind surfing, diving, boat trips, fishing, and surfing plus cycling, walking and horse back riding.
The town of Lagos is just a 10 min drive away and has a beautiful modern marina, markets and restaurants and, there are many local golf courses (including Boavista Golf) within easy reach.

The Algarve / West Algarve region
The Algarve has some of Europe's best sandy beaches, idyllic rocky coves, golf resorts, and a relaxed lifestyle with its warm climate. Lagos is easily reached from Faro airport via the new motorway, and is the largest town in the western Algarve. It is also one of the most attractive, and has retained many of its traditional buildings. Lagos features cobbled streets, a large beach front marina, traditional markets, and lovely places to stroll and eat in the warm evenings. Peak season is July & August, with temperatures reaching 30c, however warm, sunny weather is a feature of the region from late May to early October making all outdoor activities enjoyable.
Praia da Luz / Luz Park area
Luz is 8 kms from Lagos, and is beautifully situated with a wide crescent of sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs behind the village. Luz has a lovely palm-lined promenade beside one of the best beaches in the Algarve. Extensive water sports, golf, tennis, horse riding and surfing are all available locally, and there is also a zoo and water park close by Luz. Other beaches close-by are also worth visiting, like Burgau, and there are fantastic walks across the headlands and inland in the countryside. The village is a short walk - or minutes drive - from the villa, and has family friendly and relaxed restaurants, cafes, a small supermarket, a chemist, bank with ATM and post office.
How to get there
Fly to Faro airport - a number of UK airlines fly direct including Monarch, EasyJet, TaP and British Airways. The flight takes about 3 hours and Portugal is in the same time zone as the UK. There are lots of flights every day. It takes about 1 hour to reach the villa by car, either in a taxi (about Euro 70) or renting a car - Hertz, Sixt, Europcar and others are available from Faro airport. The motorway from Faro to Lagos is fast and quiet, and the majority of the journey is on this road. Directions from Lagos to the Villa, about 9 kms, are available. In the summer peak season its best to arrange car rental before you arrive.

Further details indoors: The Villa has been furnished to a high standard with a contemporary style, and offers a large, light, open plan and comfortable holiday home with all the modern conveniences you would expect to find. The spacious lounge has a feature wood burning fireplace, lots of seating, satelite TV/DVD/VCR and a CD player (with connection for an MP3/iPod). There is a selection of CDs and DVDs (movies). The dining room has seating for six at the large table. The lounge and dining room are at the front of the villa and have fantastic sea views through the glass doors that open the full length of the villa. Both rooms open onto a large covered deck, overlooking the pool area, which catches the sun all day long. The kitchen is fully fitted with granite worktops, new equipment (dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave and cappuccino machine, etc) and a door to the summer kitchen/BBQ area. There are 3 bedrooms (1 en-suite) and 2 bathrooms, both with bath and shower. The master bedroom has a double bed, en-suite bathroom, dressing area, and its own separate sitting room and terrace (with table and chairs). It is also fully equipped for you to enjoy your stay and includes two CD players (one with MP3 & USB connection), radio alarm, fan and hairdryer. The second bedroom can be either a double or two singles, and has a CD player, iPod dock, clock radio alarm and digital safe. The third bedroom has two single beds and a cassette/radio player. We can also provide a cot & high chair for babies. All the bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes and direct access to the terraces. All the windows and doors have new shutters to keep the villa cool and secure. This villa would make an ideal holiday retreat due to its peaceful location and thoughtful presentation.
Further details outdoors: The pool area is raised to give good views of the sea, and has a tiled surround. There are two hammocks, and numerous sun loungers and deck chairs, plus tables and umbrellas. There is a pool side shower room/wc, plenty of space for pool side al fresco dining, and pool side lighting. On the deck overlooking the pool is another eating area with table and chairs. The summer kitchen is to the side of the villa and is very private. It has traditional calcada flooring, stunning pink bougainvillea, passion flowers and palms, two large tables for al fresco eating, an outdoor kitchen with BBQ and sink, outdoor lighting and powerpoint for an iPod dock or CD players. There is also a private deck by the main bedroom, and a large roof terrace with stunning views of the sea. The garden has been carefully landscaped with mature palm trees, hibiscus, bougainvillea, almond, orange and lemon trees. There is off street, secure parking within the Villa grounds. The Villa is separated from the street by high walls and secure, lockable gates, plus new shutters on all the doors and windows and some security lighting.
Further details
The linen is changed weekly, and the towels are supplied for indoor use only (changed weekly) by the maid service. Smoking is not permitted inside the villa. We cannot accept pets at the Villa. Regrettably the villa is not suitable for toddlers or wheelchair users.
Conditions
Please vacate the property by 10.00am on the last day, unless arrangements have been made to extend the time (possible in less busy periods). Please arrive after 4pm, unless have arrangements have been made to arrive earlier.
