House of the Fisherman
About the home
Ideal for couples wanting solitude or families wanting beach and pool activities, this three bedroom villa is almost unique in terms of the stunning sea views from its garden, which in itself leads out to glorious cliff top walks to Luz and the traditional fishing village of Burgau.
The villa is furnished to a high standard with loungers, bbq, alfresco dining area and internally, the marble bathrooms and spacious living and sleeping areas provide a real feel of luxury. English Freeview TV is available in the villa. With the enormous ocean view swimming pool right next to the villa, a friendly vine covered 'Cabana' (the grapes are delicious!) serving drinks and snacks next door, everything is here for a relaxing family or couples holiday.

Further details indoors:
Entered through a wooded and shaded front garden, the villa opens up before you with a well equipped kitchen to the right and a light and airy lounge with patio doors out to the patio and garden which offer ocean vistas (watching the boats whilst sitting in the garden with a glass of wine is a true pleasure!). The three bedrooms are of a very good size, with two being en suite. The bathrooms are primarily tile/marble (one with 'his and hers' sinks) and again, are larger than average.
Further details outdoors:
The garden of the villa is just perfect for relaxing, soaking up the sun or just taking in the breathtaking sea views. There is a BBQ for those alfresco lunches and suppers, dining table with umbrella for those wanting some shade and sunloungers to soak up the sun on. The garden is of a good size and leads out to the stunning cliff top walks (good pathways), to the left to Luz with its vast array of restaurants/bars and, of course its expanse of beach, and to the right to Burgau which again, has a large number of eateries and fabulous beach. Local (and almost deserted) beaches are also accessible for those who want to explore the areas immediately outside of the villa.
For those not wanting to venture any further afield, the huge swimming pool is located right next to the villa which in itself offers stunning sea views as the swimming pool is located 'over the sea' and there is a lovely 'cabana' behind the villa, which due to its vine covered exterior, provides a lovely shady area for a breakfast, snack, cup of coffee or something a little stronger!

Enquire nowThe Algarve / West Algarve region
Lagos is the cultural and entertainment city in the area. With its cobbled streets, brand new marina, wonderful beaches and restaurants too many to count, it is a great destination for days and evenings out. Luz, the nearest town to the House of the Fisherman, is a 15 minute walk away along the cliff tops and offers all the advantages of a tourist resort but without the crowded feeling of other Algarve seaside areas.
There are numerous beaches and coves nearby, which can be accessed on foot by a track. The surrounding villages offer a good variety of local cuisine away from the tourist crowd, and definitely at non-tourist prices! Boavista championship golf course is a couple of minutes' drive away - 25% discount on normal golf fees can be obtained by staying in this villa.
The Praia da Luz area
The area is a haven for holiday makers, golfers, sports enthusiastic or just those seeking a relaxing holiday. Along the coast there are many opportunities for water sports, horse riding is nearby and there are two excellent golf courses within a few minutes drive.
Venture inland, and it's like going back in time with traditional white washed villages, superb local (and cheap) restaurants and very friendly 'locals'

I stayed in the Casa do Pescador with 5 other friends in September 2012. The house was absolutely lovely and came at a really good price, considering the general market price level. We were completely satisfied and would stay there again. The location: the best thing about the house! It's about 100 meters away from the ocean and cliffs, and the sights from the terrace and the garden couldn't be any better, you feel like staying in a very exclusive place. It's a bit outside Luz, so you don't feel too crowded in and you do get some peace, calm and privacy but at the same time you can easily walk in the town by taking the scenic walking/jogging track between the garden and the ocean. It's best to have a car but if you don't want to travel around I reckon you could do without one as well, a minibus taxi to Luz downton cost us some 10 EUR. No private pool but this is compensated by a large communal pool next door - used by other people in the development but not too crowded. Nearest restaurants are in Luz and Burgau but you usually need to have a reservation, there aren't too many of them and they are usually fully booked unless you're lucky. Supermarkets in Luz and bigger ones in Lagos. The house itself: pretty basic but comfortable for 6 people and we didn't feel like lacking anything. A bathroom for each bedroom is a plus, and rooms were quite spacious. My only complaint would be the ventilation in the rooms, it could be better but again it wasn't too big a deal, although bedrooms being on the ground floor meant that leaving the window open at times isn't wise. There some steps leading up from the living room to the bedrooms so it's probably not too suitable for disabled people or families with very small children. Decent holiday house kitchen and a bbq on the terrace. No Internet. It's not a fancy house but unless you want to spend your holidays in Portugal indoors watching a big screen TV, this house will fit your needs perfectly. |

The House of the Fisherman is a delightful holiday home in a beautiful spot. It's situated at the very edge of a small complex and the south facing rear of the house, where the living room and kitchen are, faces the sea, offering stunning views from the generous well furnished terrace and garden. Just opposite the front door is that small cabana which serves light meals and very generous glasses of wine at lunchtimes!, and the spotlessly clean pools and seating areas. The four of us (2 couples) stayed at the beginning of August, and despite this, plus the fact that the villa next door was also occupied, we were struck by the peace and tranquility we found there. The villa is spacious and cool and airy. The bedrooms and bathrooms are huge, with plenty of storage space so they don't feel cluttered. The kitchen is well equipped, making it easy to prepare food to eat whilst enjoying that fabulous view. Our complete experience of renting the vila for our holiday has been extremely positive. We received through, friendly and swift responses when making initial enquiries and our actual booking and we were impressed with the quality and quantity of information about the villa, local amenities, travel etc we were given., which made it easy to settle in and feel at home from the very beginning of our holiday. From the villa's garden, you can join the cliff path and enjoy a twenty minute walk to the east (left) to Praia de Luz, or turn right (west) for the slightly longer (45 mins) and a little more hilly stroll to Burgau, our beach of choice during our stay. It's a beautiful cove, with a sandy beach, plenty of new and very comfortable sunbeds (which aren't too closely packed) and a fab beach bar/restaurant serving excellent lunches. If you head to Praia de Luz, try O Antonio's (may need to book in high season), where the food is excellent and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. All in all, this house is a little gem which we would have no hesitation in recommending to others. |

Myself, husband and 23yr old daughter thought Casa do Pescador (House of the Fisherman) was a beautiful and relaxing villa in superb location, just perfect to unwind. We booked with Caroline and had excellent service from her.The villa was spacious and well maintained. The view from the garden could not be beaten overlooking the sea and coastal path. The adjacent swimming pool had spectacular views towards the sea with plenty of sunbedswe found the temperature of the pool was fine as it was not a heated pool, Having stayed in Luz many times before we appreciated the quietness and tranquillity of the villa which is part of Porto Dona Marie and the proximity to Luz either walking along the coastal path or by hire car meant we could go out in the evening to a more lively community when we wanted to. The villa was very well presented, with a lovely garden, ensuite bathrooms, and lots of wadrobe space which made it quite a home from home. Feeding the sparrows and black bird became a breakfast ritual, as was watching commerants diving in to the sea from the garden. |
