Obidos in simply fantastic. A medieval walled town that has been named a world heritage site, it offers tasteful shopping and some very fine restaurants. There are bars and cafes and for the photographically minded a never-ending opportunity to point and click. This town is a true jewel in the crown of the region.
Praia D'el Rey's golf course has been voted Portugal's No.1 by Golf World magazine. The resort offers access to the 5 star Marriott complex, restaurants, tennis club and of course, the great beach. It is quite simply the best golf and beach resort in the country.
How to get there
Fly to Lisbon and travel north for about 40 mins. The journey is simple (on the new A8 motorway) and a map is available on request. Lisbon has all the normal car hire companies although transfers can be arranged through the people who manage the property for me.
Getting on the A8 motorway from the airport is very straight forward with no need to leave the main roads. There is one roundabout and 2 junctions - that is it.
