The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
Portugal's Western region is blessed with a mild year round climate typical of southern Europe creating ideal conditions for all sorts of outdoor activities. It is a land of vinyards and lush green valleys set between the Montejunto mountains and the Atlantic ocean.
The Silver Coast, a gem of largely undiscovered beauty and fine sandy beaches, gets its name from the effect of the sun on the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. You will enjoy spending time in a protected area of such outstanding natural beauty.
Eating out in this region is both affordable and satisfying. There are top-class restaurants, which are excellent value for money. Seafood is obviously a speciality and can be enjoyed with a good white wine of the region.
This is an exceptionally friendly and welcoming area, you will find it pleasurable to spend time in quieter part of Portugal less frequented by tourists.

This is a real outdoor playground, ideal for walking, cycling, swimming, surfing (at the resort or nearby at the famous surfing beach of Baleal) or kite surfing. Excellent sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, sea fishing and horse riding also available in the vicinity.
The nearby (15 mins) medieval walled town of Obidos is in a magnificent state of repair, and enjoys World Heritage status. Within the walls are fascinating alleys which have become home to high-class handicraft and gift shops as well as excellent bars and restaurants.
Close by is Caldas da Rainha, famous for its spa - for 4 centuries only the noble and those with royal patronage had permission to enjoy it! This is also the best place for shopping in local area, with several supermarkets, banks, street markets and quality shops.
It is also enjoyable to walk along the sea wall at the local fishing port of Peniche before visiting one of the many harbour-side restaurants for fresh fish cooked on a barbecue.
How to get there
Fly to Lisbon - there are plenty of scheduled and low cost carrier flights available from both the UK and continental Europe. Time to resort just 45 mins.
All major car hire companies available at the airport - book online or we can arrange this or taxi transfers for you.
Alternatively Fly to Porto - 2.5 hours to property.
Full driving directions will be provided.
A further option might be to sail overnight to either Bilbao (from Portsmouth) or Santander (from Plymouth) and spend some time exploring northern Spain and Portugal en route.
