The Bohemia region

A city of medieval cathedral spires, church domes and bridges over the Vltava River all in the shadow of Prague Castle (built in the 9th century), Prague is one of the largest cities in central Europe and certainly one of the most beautiful. Millions visit every year to stroll round the enchanting Old Town (virtually undamaged by WWII), sip pilsner and get a shot of the famous Astronomical Clock, which has hung from the Old Town Hall since 1410.

Visit the Czech National Museum at Wenceslas Square, or see Czech, central European and Bohemian art through the ages at the Czech National Gallery – most notably the 'Baroque in Bohemia' collection at Schwarzenberg Palace. DOX is a new centre for contemporary art in Holešovice, and there are plenty of cool bars and clubs in Žizkov.
