Prague has been the political, cultural and economic center of central Europe during its 1100 year existence.
Founded during Gothic and flourishing during Rennaisance eras, Prague was the seat of two Holy Roman Emperors and later also the capital of Holy Roman Empire. It was important city to the Habsburg Monarchy and its Austro-Hungarian Empire and after World War I became the capital of Czechoslovakia.

The Prague / Mala Strana area
Mala strana known in English as Lesser Town or Lesser Quarter is perhaps the most beatiful part of Prague.
The name comes from its position on the left bank of river Vltava and on the slopes just below the Prague castle.
Mala strana was created in 1257 by uniting a number of small settlements beneath the Prague castle into a single administrattive unit.
The market place known as Malostranske namesti was center of the town.
As in most of Prague, the traces of Charles IV development are seen in Mala strana from the 14th century but the baroque architecture predominates Mala strana after the town was damaged by fire in 1541 and later by wars.
Points of Interest in Mala strana include, but are not limited to, to palaces, gardens, churches, towers, roofs, views of Prague, monasteries, narrow streets, historic restaurants/ pubs and historic/river cafes.
Palaces: Wallenstein, Lobkowicz, Thun,Pallfy
Gardens: Wallenstein, Vrtbovska, Gardens of Prague castle, Kinsky
Churches: St.Nicholas, Our Lady Victorious with Infant Jesus of Prague - 300 m from our studio!
View points/towers: Petrin lookout, Mostecka Charles bridge tower, St.Nicholas Roof terrace

We stayed for three nights in early April. All communication with the owners Veronika and partner was done by email. She was clear and very helpful. She booked us the pick up taxi from the airport to the apartment for 23 euros and we felt that this was a fair price. The journey took 30 minutes. We were met by her uncle Thomas who showed us the apartment, took our payment in cash (and 100 euro returnable deposit),gave us an agreement to sign and gave us the keys. He spoke little English but was a kind and gentle man and we trusted him. The apartment itself was on the third floor and had been recently refurbished. There was a lift. The door to the apartment was very strong and thick and had good secure locks. We heard no noise from other occupants of the building apart from a few footsteps from people passing in the corridor. The whole building was non smoking. The bed was firm and comfortable and the mattress new. The room was clean. The bathroom was modern with a new shower cubicle and the water was hot. It was still very cold outside and the room had two radiators which were working well. There was a ceiling fan for the summer. There was a small kitchen area with a fridge, electric hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, plates, pots and pans, glasses, cutlery and bottle opener. We were given a welcome surprise pack which consisted of a bottle of local wine and sachets of coffee, jam and a small loaf of bread.I think you get this if you stay more than three nights. Towels were provided. In the room was a guest book which previous occupants had written in and Veronika had also collected leaflets of useful local information. The windows looked out upon the inner courtyard which appeared peaceful. Veronika had emailed us to let us know there was a film event occuring in the building opposite on the Saturday night of our arrival. She said that people would be leaving through the courtyard at 11pm and apologised for any noise they might make. We did hear them, very briefly but it wasn't loud and I really appreciated her thoughfulness in letting us know what was going on. We were so pleased with the apartment. When we stepped outside into the street Mostecka we couldn't believe how central we were. We were a couple of minutes away from The Charles Bridge. and then a short walk into the Old Town.We found some lovely pubs and restaurants locally. There was a late night jazz bar round the corner. There was a taxi rank in the square opposite and trams stops. There were small local supermarkets on the street and round the corner and an ATM right opposite. There was a MacDonald's next door and sausage stands a few doors down. You wont go hungry or thirsty in Prague. We walked every where and came home late at night and felt safe on the street outside and whilst entering our building. We had to leave very early on Tuesday morning and Thomas came to the apartment on time to return our deposit. The experience from start to finish was a really good one. Thanks! |

This apartment was terrific! We spent four days in Prague and thanks to the central location of this apartment were easily able to see sites throughout the city. The owner made check in and check out extremely easy and the apartment was spacious and clean. I was worried that the apartment would be noisy because it is on a busy street, however, it faces the courtyard and thus was extremely quiet. The terrace you have access to on the floor above the unit with a view of the Prague castle is a nice perk as we were able to eat breakfast out there every morning of pastries purchased at the nearby grocery store. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a vacation rental in Prague. |
