This fantastic property has everything you need for a relaxing break away from it all. The recently renovated house is ideally located in the tranquil village of Rodes just down the street from the historic church. It has the most amazing panoramic views from it’s rooftop terrace and also benefits from it’s own private garage along with the use of two bicycles to tour the area on ! Rodes itself is a small village with a renowned restaurant and small grocery store, which makes it ideal for a break where you can just relax and forget about driving if you wish. It also has easy access to the main road between Perpignan and Andorra which allows the surrounding area to be explored very easily.
Rodes is situated between the two thriving market towns of Prades and Ille-sur-Tet which both have a wide wide choice of bars, restaurants and shops to visit. For beach-side relaxation, Vinca lake is located 4km towards Prades and is an excellent alternative to the coast which is around 30 minutes drive.
Accommodation in the house consists of one double bedroom and a further bedroom with two bunk-beds on the first floor. The 2nd floor is dedicated to the open-plan day room containing the kitchen, dining and sitting areas leading on to the rooftop terrace as well as a small set of stairs to the Mezzanine shower room / w.c.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
Languedoc-Roussillon is perfectly positioned between the Mediterranean to the east where the beautiful sandy beaches provide long days by the sea, and the Pyrenees to the west, which offer a wealth of walking and cycling opportunities, not to mention skiing in the winter!
This region is a delight; the Conflent valley provides lush green scenery, with Mount Canigou dominating the skyline and the Pyrenees visible in the distance. You can be swimming in the sea in the morning, and hiking in the mountains in the afternoon. There are even thermal hot springs, so if you would like to combine the two activities we can suggest a hike AND a swim in the mountains! It really does offer you everything!
There is a lake in the local town of Vinca, with beaches, from which you can swim, sail or wind-surf, or you could just visit the popular open air swimming pool in Prades.
Weather: We benefit from being in the sunniest region of France, and enjoy warm, sunny weather from March all the way through to October. November and December are cooler but still with sunshine. January, February and March are great skiing months (45 minute drive to the ski resorts).
Prades / Rodes area
Rodes is a very peaceful, typical village of the region with the local church, boules court and tennis courts. It also benefits from having a great restaurant and small grocery store.
The nearest main towns are Ille-sur-Tet and Prades which are both just a few kilometres away, A thriving market town, Prades has many great shops and restaurants as well as a lively market on both Tuesday and Saturday mornings, where you can buy local produce such as the peaches and cherries that are grown in abundance here, fresh vegetables, wonderful cheeses…. and of course the excellent wine!
There are events and festivals throughout the year. Spanish cellist Pablo Casals fled to Prades during the Spanish civil war, stayed and established the festival that now bears his name. The Catalan summer school takes over the town for two weeks in August, and there is dancing in the square every night during this period.
Places of Interest: For touring the area, Rodes offers an excellent base. Just a few of the sites of interest within easy driving distance are listed below:
* Villefranche de Conflent, a fine example of a medieval walled town * Little Yellow Train, catch this train from Villefranche and enjoy the specatular mountain views right into the Pyrenees. * Grottes de Canalettes, magnificent renowned caves with an incredible light and sound show * St Martin du Canigou, 9th century abbey perched impressively high on the hillside with fantastic scenery and walks. * St Michel de Cuxa, 6th century abbey that hosts concerts during the Pablo Casals festival but is also open for viewing most of the year. * St Thomas les Bains, outstanding natural thermal hot springs in wonderful outdoor mountain setting.
How to get there
- Fly to Perpignan via the low-cost airlines - Ryanair, Flybe or Air France - Clara is just 40 minutes from the airport.
- Alternatively fly to (in order of closeness) Girona, Carcassonne, Montpellier, Nimes, Barcelona or Toulouse using airlies Ryanair, Easyjet, FyBe, British Airways or Air France.
- All major car rental agencies have a desk at all the airports.
