A stunning 200 year old stone barn conversion with large private swimming pool. La Bergerie is situated in the picturesque Têt valley, in a quiet location in the quaint village of Eus, officially 'un des plus beaux village de France', one of the most beautiful villages in France. The villa enjoys one of the most amazing views in the area and is equipped and furnished to a very high standard. Sympathetically renovated to retain all the original character whilst ensuring the modern luxuries we all expect from our holiday villa.
The house is arranged over two floors, the ground floor is devoted to family living areas. The enormous lounge has a very comfortable sitting area with three large sofas pulled up together to take advantage of the log fire, making it cosy on those cooler winters evenings. There is also a bar area and a quiet reading corner. Along the length of one wall there is the original manger where the animals would have eaten. This has now been turned over to a storage area for logs.
The galley style kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to create quick snacks or gourmet dinners. We have endeavoured to create the kind of kitchen that is enjoyed, good sharp knives, plenty of gadgets and most importantly a dishwasher.
The kitchen looks over the large dining area with a table for up to 10 people. We have equipped the dining room with good quality, matching tableware for you to create an elegant table.
Upstairs are five bedrooms with views over the village and the mountains. We have a mixture of double and twin bedded rooms to suit possibly two or three families sharing or maybe bringing parents, grandparents and children together for a special family holiday.
The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with shower and a double sink unit. The second bedroom also has an en suite shower room. The other bedroom share the family bathroom and there is also a WC on the ground floor. All the beds have quality linen and towels.
Large 8m x 4m crystal clear pool with stunning views over the village and the mountains. Secure and safe for children, it has a pool alarm and cover conforming to French regulations and lockable gates can be used to restrict children's access to pool terrace. It is available from May to September and is serviced twice weekly - safety, hygiene and cleanliness are a priority.
The paved pool terrace is surrounded by trees, including olives, pomegranates and figs - feel free to help yourself when they are in season. The trees ensure privacy without compromising the stunning views of Eus village and mount Canigo. Shady and sunny spots to suit all tastes, relax on one of the sun loungers, splash around in the pool or sit and read with a long glass of something icy cold.
We have supplied an Australian style gas BBQ with hood, so that you can cook and eat al fresco. The outdoor wooden table is ample big enough for 10 people and is positioned in a covered dining area on the terrace.

About this location
The Languedoc-Roussillon region
Nestling between the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean sea and sharing a border with Spain, this southern most tip of France has a distinctively Catalan flavour. Nowhere else in France will you see such incredible diversity of natural beauty. Majestic Mount Canigou (2785m - 9137 ft) provides a dramatic backdrop to the whole region. By contrast there is also one of the longest stretches of uninterrupted sandy beaches in France.
Weather: We benefit from being in the sunniest region of France with Eus being the sunniest village in the country, on approaching the village you will see it basking in golden sunbeams. The beautiful weather facilitates a wealth of walking and cycling opportunities, not to mention skiing in the winter! You can enjoy warm, sunny weather from March all the way through to October. November and December are cooler but still with sunshine. January, February and March are great skiing months (Less than 1 hr to the Pyrenees ski resorts at Font Romeu).
The village of Eus is one of the villages certified as the most beautiful in France ( les plus beaux villages de France) and it's position perched high on the valley side overlooking the river Têt is a stunning sight.
Foodies can indulge themselves with fresh local food at the various markets in the area, we have a list of markets for every day of the week! Take a trip out and buy a wonderful selection of locally produced food and wine or just sit at a pavement café and watch the world go by.
Days out include.
The relaxing hot springs at St Thomast-les-Bains, "The little Yellow Train" that winds up to the high Pyrenees, the ancient Abbeys of St Michel de Cuxa and St Martin de Canigou, the stunning Mediterranean coastal resorts of Collioure and Argelès, the Dali Museum in Figueras, Spain, the fairytale walled cité of Carcassonne, the amazing Gorges de Galamus, the many Cathar castles, the UNESCO world heritage site of Villefranche de Conflent, the spectacular caves Les Canalettes with a subterranean sound and light show in summer, the animal parks at Casteil and Les Angles and the impressive African Safari park in Sigean, the Modern art museum in Ceret famed for the works of Picasso, Perpignan, the capital of the department and it's many wonderful shops and restaurants, the list is endless and all within an easy drive of the village.
Wine lovers are in Paradise, with dozens of local wineries offering free tastings and also the unique local "Vins Doux" aperitif wines from Rivesaltes, Banyuls and Maury. Cheers !!
For golf lovers, there is a 9 hole golf course nearby and a Championship 27 hole golf course at St Cyprien (1 hours drive).
Skiing and many other winter sports are available in winter with plenty of good skiing December through to March, with lessons available at Les Angles and Font Romeu. The ski slopes are good and not as busy as the more popular and expensive alpine resorts.
With a wealth of other sporting activities available (please ask for your particular sport) and we will help you find it!!
Alternatively, you can breakfast in bed, relax by the pool, take long lunches and afternoon naps and simply unwind! surrounded by stunning countryside!
