Included in our rental fee are quality linens and towels, toiletries and basic staples to start you off until you can reach the shops for your selection of groceries etc. A wood-burning effect iron stove adorns the corner of the lounge, offering the delights of an effective flickering fire without the inconvenience of relighting, fueling and cleaning. Prades / Serdinya area
Our village of SERDINYA, nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, is approximately five mins. drive away from VILLEFRANCH-DE-CONFLENT, a Unesco World Heritage Site; a walled village full of wonderful restaurants and shops. and Caverns and Gorges to explore close by. You can catch the famous TRAIN JUANE here, which travels through Serdinya up to BOURG-MADAME, Nr. Andorra, stopping at various locations on the way. Vernet Les Bains with its popular OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOLS , Spa, Tennis Courts, Children's playground, Horse Riding and CASINO is a 10 minute drive through beautiful scenery. A Mountain Zoo can be found at nearby Casteil. Rock pools for swimming at Sahorre. A large Open Market runs twice a week at nearby PRADES which also hosts a summer Music Festival- Pablo Casals. VINCA has a beautiful setting to enjoy - swim here and enjoy the beach surrounded by mountains. Rodes offers a great restaurant with a superb walk around the circular gorges walk which runs at the back of the village. Les Orgues near IIle-sur-Tet is a fascinating geographical wonderment with rock eriosion over thousands of years creating the Illes. Local Festivals throughout the summer months within this region. The MEDITERRANEAN COASTLINE is a 50min drive away and is not to be missed with its many activities, beaches and interesting shops.
The village itself is divided in two by the river Tet and in its centre is a lovely church that houses many treasures. Over the bridge across the river, take a left and follow the winding road down to the village picnic site where you can enjoy a barbecue under the shade of the vines and dabble your feet in the cooling mountain water of the river. You will hear the tinkling of bells from the mountain goats and sheep and catch an odd glimpse of the old way of life with the shepherds herding them together up and down the mountains and terraces. Walk further down the narrow road following the river until you reach an old arched stone bridge and sit under the shade of the walnut tree, enjoy its peace, beauty and simplicity. The village houses a POST OFFICE and COFFEE SHOP/BAR/RESTAURANT where you can purchase almost anything, but don't be in a hurry when you visit; friendly local villagers spend their time gossiping here! A bakery van visits the village daily. Children's Playground, Boules and Table Tennis and a lovely communal barbeque area over the bridge by the river Tet.
All within easy driving distance you will find BOUNDLESS activities ranging from: walking, hiking, fishing, swimming - local outdoor pool and rock pools, lakes and the Mediterranean, cycling, water sports including sailing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling etc, white water rafting, canyoning, caving, paragliding, golf, horse riding, general sightseeing of gorges, hot springs, limestone caverns, historical buildings, town and villages, local markets, shopping, and our famous wine trials. DOWNHILL & CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING, SNOW BOARDING, SHOEING & ICE SKATING AT NEARBY LES ANGLES, FONT-ROMEU & ANDORRA. For more information on this area and details of local events there are three good Tourist Boards close by at VilleFranche, Vernet Les Bains and Prades and of course numerous ones on the coast. Original traditional Catalan floor tiling flows throughout into the open plan lounge, separated from the kitchen by a Craftsman winding wooden staircase. The ambience is warm and relaxing. French doors lead to the utility room and downstairs modern shower/toilet., with heated towels rail. Wooden winding stairs lead to first landing. Right-hand side: fully equipped French-style double bedroom with sink and a balcony, provides a romantic setting overlooking the village and mountains. Left-hand side: A fully furnished twin bedded room with en-suite dressing room/bathroom offers tranquil stylish surroundings. Continue up the winding staircase to the S.E. facing roof terrace - see below.
Further details outdoors: A village house situated on a typical narrow winding Catalan village street , offers free parking facilities 50 yards at the top of the street.
Wooden winding stairs from the first landing lead to a roof terrace with views of the quaint roof tops and surrounding Mountains, furnished with planters, two wooden folding tables, umbrella and four chairs. Enjoy the Mediterranean sun on this private roof terrace and dine out here and watch the swallows and swifts and listen to the nightingales in the evening.
