Nestled in a secluded valley in this beautiful and unspoilt part of the French Pyrenees, Le Gite Blanc is just the spot if you're looking for somewhere peaceful to unwind, as well as a base from which to explore the mountains, visit the shrine at Lourdes, or experience the vibrant city of Toulouse. This warm, comfortable holiday cottage is located between the bustling market town of Boulogne-sur-Gesse and its pretty neighbour, Castelnau-Magnoac, renowned for its history as the founding base for the French resistance in the second world war.
If you're after something different for your holiday, the owners of the farmhouse offer hands on heavy horse experience days with their French bred, English trained Percheron draft horse Nobel du Desir, and carriage driving taster sessions with their team of spotted ponies.
The gite offers two bedrooms, one double and one twin (with a double sofa bed in the living room for extra guests or children - enquire for price). It has a fully fitted kitchen for all your self-catering needs and a shower room and separate toilet. It sits in a large garden with its own private driveway.
If you want to read, paint or just relax, Le Gite Blanc provides the perfect environment. It is also an ideal base for more active pastimes and there are endless lanes and tracks to walk, run or cycle, nearby golf courses and horse riding centres and, for the very adventurous, a local airfield with flying lessons and parachute jumps! The mountains provide scope for more serious sport including hillwalking, trekking, white water rafting and, in the winter, dog-sledding, skiing and snowboarding.
If it's a cultural break you're after, then why not take in one of the many live concerts at St Gaudens, Tarbes or Toulouse and for sightseeing a must do is St Bertrand de Comminges, with its 12th century cathedral in one of the prettiest villages in France.
Well behaved pets are welcome - it's an ideal pace for dog-walking. Please note, the owners have two energetic and friendly Dalmatians.

The Midi-Pyrénées region
The Midi-Pyrenees is renowned for its beauty and tranquility. A region of contrasts, with the second city of France at beautiful Toulouse, many important historic sites such as the ancient bastide town Carcassonne; the pilgrims destination of Lourdes and many caves, chateaus and monuments.
Of course, it's dominated by the magnificent Pyreneean mountain range with the rural villages nestling in the rolling foothills and Spain just a short hop through one of the mountain passes.
Each village has its own character and they are easy to explore as walking is so easy on the empty lanes and footpaths.
The famous Marciac Jazz festival in July is just an hour's drive away.
The Magnoacs is an area is renowned all over the world for its cuisine, wine and, of course, armagnac and the local markets are havens for food lovers. Local breads, cheeses and duck are all specialities.
Lovers of nature will see majestic birds of prey hanging over the fields, a myriad of colourful insects, and grazing deer; the lucky ones might catch a glimpse of wild boar.
If you want to read, paint or just relax, Le Gite Blanc provides the perfect environment. It is also an ideal base for more active pastimes and if you want to walk, run or cycle there are endless lanes and tracks, while the mountains provide scope for more serious sport including hillwalking, trekking, white water rafting and, in the winter, skiing and snowboarding.

"Lovely cottage in the beautiful French countryside"
If you are looking for a relaxing retreat away from the bustle of the city then this cottage is just right. It sits at the end of the large garden of the main farmhouse under the shade of fruit trees and enjoys panoramic views. There are plenty of runs and cycle routes around the property, but we took some gentle strolls and and took short car journeys into nearby villages to try out the bars and restaurants. We also enjoyed our visit to the huge fresh water lake, which had its own sandy beach, shade and basic facilities. A very pretty and uncluttered part of France.

"A Place to Relax"
My wife and I stayed in this gite in early June and had fabulous weather. Nice comfortable little bungalow in a lovely rural setting. I got a couple of bike rides in on the quiet country lanes and we went to the roman ruins at Montmaurin and the cathedral at St Bertrand, both of which are worth a visit if you're into the history of the area. A nice relaxing place to stay and we'd go back.

"Simple gite in peaceful and stunning countryside"
This is a simple gite, but has everything you need, including a well equipped kitchen, for a tranquil stay. We arrived in pouring rain, but got a very warm welcome from our hosts. It is located in a very peaceful area, at the end of a lane, surrounded by stunning countryside which is ideal for walking especially if you have dogs, which we did. Whilst you in the heart of the countryside, it is only a 10 minute drive to Castelnau Magnouac and it is a good base from which to explore the many interesting places in the area, and also close to the Pyrenees.

"Simple accomodation in Lovely Quiet Spot."
"I stayed in Le Gite Blanc in early winter with a friend. We were its first guests! It's a beautiful spot with lovely views of the hills and good walking. It's quiet and secluded, but close to many spots worth a visit. Although you're in the grounds of the big house, it's private enough with its own drive. The local towns are interesting and we went on a drive to Aulon in the mountains where we found snow even though it was very early in the season. I went out for a drive with Anne and one of her ponies which was a fun way to see the local countryside. This is an ideal gite to use as a base to explore the area. It is basic and simply decorated, but has everything you need for your holiday and the wifi meant I stayed in touch with the outside world! Good value for money."
