About the home

In the heart of the Valley Loire, the château stands within its own moated courtyard garden and is ideally situated within walking distance from 'Les Dryades 4 star golf & spa resort. At the resort you can enjoy the use of the facilities on offer, which includes the indoor/outdoor swimming pools, salt water pool, jacuzzi, fitness room & tennis courts.

The chateau comfortably accommodates 14 guests, with 7 well appointed bedrooms (all en-suite), with spacious living areas including 3 reception rooms & large farmhouse kitchen. In addition to the chateau is the east wing apartment which accommodates 8 guests. Both properties are available to rent individually or together

With panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, features Les Dryades par 72 18 hole golf course, bordered by trees, wooded areas 51 bunkers and 18 lakes, the course is a challenge to all categories of golfers. Covered range, practice putting/chipping green. Lessons can be arranged with the pro individually or as a group. The golf shop has a selection of equipment and clothing. Clubs, trolleys and golf carts can be hired. The club house bar and restaurant open 7 days a week offers buffet lunch, sandwiches, salads, steak & pastas.

Relax with treatments inspired by Sothys of Paris in the newly renovated spa. Here you can choose from a range of treatments for both men & women, with 10 treatment rooms including oriental massage, hydrotherapy, facial/skincare, reflexology, manicure/pedicure, waxing, body treatments and beauty care. The spa boutique, featuring an exclusive range of spa products by Sothys.

The Loire Valley / Indre region

With its many chateaux, historic towns, villages, lakes & rivers the Loire Valley has something for everyone.

Visit some of the areas quaint villages, including Gargilesse with it Romansque church , Sarzay with its 11th Century fairytale Chateau and St Chartier, where people come from all over the globe for the annual music festival held in the village. The Church of St Etienne Basilique in Neuvy St Sepulcre has recently been classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. The village of Chateaumeillent produces the areas local wine, where you can sample and buy from the caves.

The town of Chateauroux lies 45 minutes north of the chateau, situated on the River Indre its nature reserve is home to a variety of rich flora, museums & historic buildings in and around the area. Its home to the larger supermarkets and shops. The city of Bourges, once described by Julius Caesar as 'one of the most beautiful cities in all of Gaule, steeped in history with it gothic cathedral, stately palaces and medival quarter. In the summer months the city host 'Nuits Lumière' a sound a light show which sets the city aglow. With excellent shopping and restaurants Bourges has plenty to offer.

George Sand, novelist and the lover of Chopin was one of the region's most famous residents, you can visit both the museum in La Chatre and her home in Nohant with its historic parks and gardens.

The Brenne Nature park which covers 166,000 hectares, almost a quarter of the Indre, with its lakes, woodlands & meadows its a perfect place for fishing, walking and cycling.

The Pouligny Notre Dame area

The village of Pouligny Notre Dame is within walking distance of the chateau, with grocery store, newsagents, post office, hairdresser & garage (with car hire).

With its contemporary style and stunning views across the Valley Noire the gastronomic restaurant at Les Dryades resort is the perfect place for fine dining. At the weekends relax in the cocktail bar with its oversized sofas and listen to the sounds of Jean Jacques the resident pianist. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for evening meal, with set and a la carte menus for you to choose from.

In the hamlet of Ligny is a 10 acre communal carp fishing lake. 2 festivals are held at the lake in the months of June & July. The commune of Pouligny puts on an excellent firework display for the July 14th celebrations.

Swimming lakes are plentiful in the surrounding area and offer watersport activities for both adults & children.

The old market town of La Chatre (10 minutes drive) which plays host to the Tour de France, the Paris-Dakar Rally and various other sporting events throughout the year. Here you will find a good selection of restaurants & bars, supermarkets, banks & shops. The Saturday morning market has a variety of produce, including some excellent local cheeses and organic foods.
