Home description
Taillade is a typical Maison de Maitre (Master's House) situated in Pouillon, South-West France.
Built at the beginning of the last century, in a commanding position, with beautiful views towards the Pyrenees. The house has 5 generous bedrooms – 3 doubles and 2 twins (one of which is on the ground floor – ideal for anyone with mobility problems).
There is a bathroom, 2 showers and 2 toilets (one on each floor)
The large, bright, south facing salon has an open fireplace and all the home comforts.
The vast kitchen is fully equipped and has seating for up to 12 people.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Landes region
South west France offers everything …
it has the longest stretch of coastline in Europe -the Côte d’Argent – 250km of sand recently voted France's Best Mainland Beach. For culture and history there are medieval villages and hill-top towns, châteaux, museums, markets and regular festivals.
It is home to some of the world’s most famous wines such as Médoc, St Emilion, Pomerol and Sauternes,and offers an amazing variety of activities such as golf, surfing, cycling, sailing, hiking, bird-watching and horse riding, relaxing in the thermal spas, to name but a few.
It's next door to Spain for day-trips - to San Sebastian, Pamplona or Bilbao's Guggenheim, and it is home to the Pyrénées for wonderful walking country and some of Europe’s most exotic wildlife, including vultures and brown bears.
Home to Western Europe's largest forest and over 30 freshwater lakes for peace, tranquility and enjoying nature, and to the French Basque Country an ancient land with its own language, culture, sports, festivals, architecture and cuisine.
And even its regional cuisine is noted even in France for its variety from foie gras to oysters and the Spanish-influenced pintxos ( tapas ).
Skiing in the Pyrenees is a secret well-kept by the French – here you can explore kilometres of well-groomed piste set in beautiful unspoiled scenery, for a fraction of what you would pay in the Alps, and without the crowds.
Voted the best golf course in France by the Association of British Tour Operators to France and 15th European golf course by the magazine Golf World, the Golf de Seignosse is a true work of art recognized by the best players. The course winds through the forest, surrounded by majestic pine and oak trees, a pleasure to play for all golfers.
Pouillon area
Pouillon, situated in southern Aquitaine, nestles in the green and undulating hills of the Chalosse within a short drive of the ocean, the Pyrenees and Spain.
We are only 15 minutes from Dax (the best thermal spas in France); 35 minutes from the world famous surfing beaches at Hossegor; 45 minutes from Biarritz 50 minutes from the Spanish Border (San Sebastian) 1 .5 hours from the Pyrenees ski resorts 2 hours from Bordeaux 2.5 hours from Toulouse
The centre of the village (Pouillon) is only 1kilometre from your Gite and has 2 restaurants in the town, one of which is a highly acclaimed Auberge and is mentioned in 3 Good Food Guides, and one by the local lake (where there is also a beach for sunbathing, children's play area and pedalos).
There are also 3 bars; a farmers market (every Friday from June to October); caves (wine cellars); rugby team and a Courses Landaises Arena (dancing with bulls - has to be seen to be believed!).
At only 10km from Pouillon lies France’s first spa town of Dax, which retains it’s prestige as an epicentre of relaxation to this day- almost 60,000 people dip in the town’s therapeutic waters each year.

Further details outdoors: The land surrounds the gite house and a farmhouse (which houses the private apartments of the owners).
The private 10metre x 5 metre chlorine free pool is surrounded by sun-decks and takes full advantage of the wonderful views – but if the sun becomes too hot, guests can just step into the glades of fruit trees and help themselves to cherries, apples, figs and walnuts (depending of course on the time of their visit), or laze in a hammock in the dappled shade of the oaks.
There is garden and poolside furniture as well as a barbeque and for the younger visitors a child's sized playhouse (with its own patio!) .
For the more energetic there is an enormous ‘Party Barn’ equipped with games and activities. And with Taillade set in 2.5 acres (10,000 sq. metres) of land there is plenty of space for outdoor games.
