The Property:
Formerly the’ Hotel de France ‘(early 1900s) on tree lined road in centre of the village 2 x 1 double bedroom apartments with lots of light and high ceilings , double glazed windows. Newly renovated retaining original features. On ground floor level, each to accommodate up to 4 people (sofa bed in living room) but ideal for a couple or small family.

You will have your own entrance door to the property , with corridor leading directly to your flat .

History of Pougues-Les-Eaux:
Pougues became renowned as a spa town under the French King Henri III. His doctor, Jean Pidoux (maternel grand-father of Jean de La Fontaine), analysed the springs of Pougues and discovered that the waters had curative properties for the digestive system. Doctor Jean Pidoux convinced Henri III to come to Pougues and take the waters. He came with his mother, Catherine de Medicis. He left Pougues cured! This "miracle" made Pougues renowned for its water amongst kings and aristocrats. And from then on, kings of France and famous people like Henri IV, Louis XIV, Gaston d'Orleans, Prince de Conti, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and many others came to Pougues.

How to get there

Fast direct train link from Paris in just 1hrs 45 min. (some trains stop in Pougues-les-Eaux only 5 minutes walk to the flat) or in Nevers with car hire availability or bus/train connection to your location.

2009: Hi Sylive, just wanted to let you know we had a brilliant holiday in Pougues les Eaux, a very handy base for exploring the area, which was new to us. We particularly loved Charite sur Loire, Bourges and Nevers. We were very comfortable and Pia was very kind and helpful. Once again, many thanks for renting your apartment to us, we would recommend it.

The flat was perfect and lovely, . It was such a lovely holiday and flat and pia was unfaultable and veyr helpful indeed. The locals were all so friendly and we are still missing our fresh croissants and bagetuttes for breakfast even now. We would like to move to France one day its just so lovely.

We will be contacting you again about the same time next year as well as we will be back in the region to visit Magny Cours for the Superbikes again and would love to stay there again,
