Riverside Cottage - Risdene
from £60 /night help
Bungalow | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Risdene is a delightful bungalow on the banks of the River Thurne. It is surrounded by countryside and enjoys a 70' (23m) river frontage, making it perfect for fisherman and boaters, and for those who just want to watch the world float by. The property is accessed on foot or by boat. It is a 20 minute walk along a good footpath along the river bank or via a water taxi.
The property has a double bedroom downstairs & two smaller bedrooms & a study on the first floor which are accessed by a steep staircase. Each of the bedrooms has a single bed, and two extra children can be accommodated upstairs on temporary beds. There are wonderful views from all of these three rooms along the river and across the countryside to the front and rear. This area makes an ideal retreat for children and teenagers, where they can plug in their laptops and take advantage of free Wi-Fi. Outside there is a garden, a picnic bench, plenty of deck chairs, a trampoline, an undercover patio area with a barbecue and table and chairs. Four bikes are in the shed for use.
The lounge is equipped with a 32inch flat screen TV and a selection of DVDs. There are also books, games and jigsaws for evenings and rainy days. There is a modern kitchen with a view over the river. The porch has comfortable chairs where you can sit in all weathers and watch the river, its wildlife and its passing boats. If you are very lucky you may spot otters and kingfishers.
Naturally there are plenty of opportunities for fishing and boating. The Broads are on your doorstep to explore with boat hire available nearby. Potter Heigham has two particularly useful shops – Lathams (which sells everything) and a fish and chip shop only 20 minutes away. It is only 10 miles from the coast with its sand dunes and seals. Guests can use a rowing boat and a canoe.
The property has full central heating in all rooms, and is very cosy in winter, making it suitable for an escape in all seasons.
