Home description

This is a beautiful, luxuriously furnished Villa. It is very bright and light and this is complemented by the stunning views of the sea from everywhere in the house as well as the colourful, tropical décor and furnishing.

The Villa was bought 10 years ago and fully refurbished by the owners to a very high specification. Each of the 3 bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning, with blackout curtains. All the bedrooms have beautiful wooden floors and solid wooden doors.

The lounge has a flat screen TV with an integrated Bose surround system with DVD/CD player. There are DVDs for guests to watch and books to be borrowed whilst on holiday. The kitchen and utility are fully equipped with whatever modern convenience one could look for, including a cappuccino machine and a bread machine.

The dining room sits 8 guests at the table. There is also a study with an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a fax machine and a printer. There is a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls (local only). In case of a power cut, there is a generator for use.

The Mauritius East Coast/Grand Port region

The East Coast is about 1hr to 1hr15 from the airport. Many of the best five star hotels in Mauritius are on this coast, such as Le Prince Maurice, St Geran, Le Tousserok. The East coast is ideal if you want a peaceful beach holiday.

The East Coast beaches are very well suited for walking and taking in the sun. There are a few good spots to splash along the coast, as small pools are formed close to the shore by the cashing waves over the rocks and the reefs: these natural swimming pools will delight you!

Poste Lafayette area

The Villa is about 7 minutes from a small shop in Roche Noires and about 15minutes from Centre de Flacq, which has many shops and supermarkets. There is also an open air market twice a week.

There are many restaurants within 20 mins drive, such as L'Auberg'inn which is only 2 mins drive away or Chez Manuel (Chinese), or restaurants in the hotels of Prince Maurice, St Geran or Belle Mare.

Surfing is very popular and there are many great picnic spots. The breathtaking landscape will make a great background for beachcombing.

How to get there

Air Mauritius, Virgin Airline and British Airways have regular direct flights to Mauritius.

Once in Mauritius, it is advisable to hire a car to get around the island.

If however, you are only 4 of you, you may prefer to use a taxi whenever you want to go out.
We can advise on a very good taxi driver whom we use personally.

The Villa has a private swimming pool. There are 2 kayaks, a few surf boards and some snorkelling gear if guests want to explore the sea. A gas barbecue is also available.

The property has a small house at its entrance where the watchman and his wife, the housekeeper, live to take care of the property.

Housekeeping services are included for 3 hours - 9am - 12pm Monday to Saturday. She will also be happy to cook local meals on request.

The watchman is also the gardener. He can also arrange for boat trips and dive trips in nearby hotels for guests who are interested.

I am writing to thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful villa and for the marvellous holiday we enjoyed in Mauritius !!!
Both Sailesh and Amrita were exceptionally helpful and friendly – nothing was too much trouble and they really helped to make the holiday relaxing.
The villa’s location was superb – the views from the terrace were amazing and the beach was impeccably manicured – Sailesh raking it clean every morning before we got up !! the children spent hours in the pool or on the beach simply looking for shells and hermit crabs. The weather was also very good – even when it rained it was warm and we still went in the pool.

January 2009:
Villa Mandorlo on Mauritius is a gorgeous house equipped with all modern facilities whose front opens onto a beautiful tropical garden and at the back opens onto the beach. The Beach itself rejoices in white sand, a turquoise sea and is almost deserted. All three bedrooms are en-suite. The house also has its own pool, accommodating staff and a very friendly taxi driver who looked after our every need. There is an excellent local restaurant nearby which serves local Mauritian fare.
We highly recommend the above to anyone looking for a hassle free, relaxing, comfortable,sunshine holiday, particularly during the cold wet english winter.
