CONTESTO AMBIENTALE

ENVIRONMENTAL CONTEXT

Posada is located on the slopes of a limestone hill at the top of which stands the tower said " Casteddu de sa Fae " or castle Fava. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the plain below , crossed by the Rio Posada. The castle in ruins . Noteworthy is the center of the village , at the foot of the hill, on which are buildings with medieval structures .

description

Located on the border between the kingdom of Gallura and that of Arborea, the village of Posada and his castle were at the center of complex historical events . Although we have no reliable data on the period of construction of the fort , one can assume that in the thirteenth century had already been erected fortifications of the castle and fortified the town. Posada was the seat of the rulers of Gallura as of Eleanor , but ended up in the hands of the Aragonese around 1380 , before returning to the deployment island under the command of Brancaleone Doria . With the fall of Arborea , Posada was subjected to the family Carròs and elevated to the rank of barony .

The special designation of the castle, the stone '' ,'' comes from a legend that in 1300 a Turkish fleet landed on the coast of the island and laid siege to their Posada in order to conquer hunger . In an attempt to deceive the besiegers the inhabitants of Posada did eat the last handful of beans remained at a pigeon , wounding him slightly ; this during the flight fell into the camp of the Turks , revealing a stomach full of beans and causing the attackers to overestimate the food resources of the islanders . So it was that the Turks are convinced that they have no hope, they removed the siege and left the shores of the island.

The castle of Posada , made with minimally processed blocks of mixed stones , consists of a wall of quadrangular not adjust within which are located a square tower , crowned with battlements, and a series of tanks.
