The County Derry region

The North Coast is one of Ireland's special places. Beautiful scenery, golden sandy beaches and rugged countryside are the back drop for an area steeped in history and ancient Irish legend. The towns of Portstewart Portrush, and Coleraine are places of activity and the wild romantic coastlines provide visitors with a host of Water sports, Championship golf courses, scenic walks and more!

Portstewart is a quiet seaside resort which has become an increasingly popular holiday destination. The town has a picturesque harbour and promenade, with spectacular views across the North Coast to the Inishowen Peninsula in Donegal. It also boasts a sweeping two-mile stretch of drive-on beach known as the 'Strand'. An attractive town known for its cafes' and art galleries it has developed a reputation as Northern Irelands' most up market resort. Famous for it’s ice cream, visitors have a choice of parlours to pick from - the most famous being 'Morelli's'.

A prominent feature of the town is O’Hara’s Rock Castle, built in 1834, this is used today as part of Dominican College. Beneath this building is the Crescent and the start of the magnificent Cliff Path. This leads, via a high path that hugs close to the cliff, to the Strand. Along the way is a holy well from which St Patrick is reputed to have drunk, a couple of old harbours and pools filled with hours of entertainment for the whole family

At the crescent families can enjoy a superb play pool and outdoor entertainment complex. Active kids can expend their energies on climbing frames, slides and see-saws. Other recreational facilities in the town include bowls, tennis and football at The Warren. There are also two excellent 18-hole golf courses in the town, as well as a 9 hole, owned by Portstewart Golf Club.

Portstewart is also famous for one of the most spectacular sunsets that you will ever witness. It was here in Portstewart that inspired the songwriter Jimmy Kennedy to pen the poignant ‘Red Sails in the Sunset’.

"Lovely house with sea views in great location"

We have just returned from Portstewart and had a relaxing week staying at 1Sunset Park. The house had sea views from the lounge and 2 of the bedrooms and is a short walk from the sea front. It is very modern inside with everything you could need.I would definitely recommend it and hope to return soon.

"Lovely Portstewart home in a great location."

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks in March for my cousins wedding. We found the accommodations well appointed and very clean. The location is great, a short walk to town and the local pub "The Anchor"! Ciaran was very professional and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!
