Heathcote, the ideal family holiday location on the Moray Firth and Banffshire Coast!

Heathcote is a traditional scottish croft cottage and new steading conversion located in around 2 acres of remote and rural Grampian Aberdeenshire in North East Scotland. Heathcote has panoramic views of Knock Hill, surrounding countryside and in the distance the Moray Firth and Banffshire Coast.

Heathcote offers tourists an exceptional opportunity to effortlessly sample all of the sports and pastimes, food and attractions and unique way of life of this very special region of Scotland. The house sleeps up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms with varying sleeping configurations available and is decorated to a high standard. Recently the old steading and barn was converted into accommodation and provides an additional 90 square meters of extra lounge space and satellite TV room.

The driveway to Heathcote is around 400 meters long and so the location is tranquil and there are no neighbours, just sheep, cattle, wild roe deer, foxes, badgers and many birds! Portsoy, shown below is our nearest seaside town located on the Banffshire Coast, is about 4 miles away as the crow flies and is where the nearest major shops are located and is the home of the internationally renowned Scottish Traditional Boat Festival.

If you are a Golfer then there are up to 30 traditional links and parkland courses about an hours drive from Heathcote and 70 in Aberdeen and Grampian in total to suit all levels of ability. In Cullen locally, there is the Cullen Bay links golf club that was originally designed by Old Tom Morris, the creator of the Old Course in St Andrews! This amazing course and location is shown in the headline banner of our website!

If you are an angler there are local trout lakes, major salmon rivers and the sea all within a few miles! The famous river Spey is only half an-hours drive away.

If you like a walking or cycling holiday then this area is for you with many miles of local cliff walks, cycle trails, hills and mountains within very easy reach. The closest ski centre at Lecht is only around an hours drive from Heathcote and located in the Cairngorms National Park

The Cairngorms National Park is Britain's largest National Park. It contains within it a unique range of landscapes, wildlife, habitats, and people.

If you like watching wildlife then we have one of the only UK pods of bottle-nose dolphins on our doorstep and some rare RSPB seabird colonies close by.

Lastly the Scottish malt whisky and castle trails all start near Heathcote. Keith, our nearest market town is the home of Chivas Regal and the Strathisla distillery and is only a 20 minute drive, while the world famous Glenfiddich distillery is only a further 20 minutes down the road in Dufftown and both offer great guided tours. From there you have a choice of well over 20 more if you like Whisky!

Heathcote can also supply a dedicated minibus taxi for the day to take groups of 6 to any of these locations or provide a deliver and collect service if you wish.

Our private spring water supply goes through an Aberdeenshire Council supplied safety system and so is very safe to use but we suggest optionally using bottled water for drinking if you wish while care should be taken not to overuse the water at peak times and that the washing machine and dishwasher be used later in the day when the shower and bathroom is not in use.

There is a new power shower for guests use that is sited above a bath tub and so for questions regarding access, sleeping arrangements and bed configurations and other guest specific matters please contact the owners in advance. There are also sets of golf clubs and fishing equipment for our guests use.

Enjoy!

Portsoy

Portsoy (Scottish Gaelic: Port Saoidh) is a burgh in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, formerly in the county of Banffshire. The original name may come from Port Saoithe, meaning "saithe harbour'".

It is known for:

local jewellery made from "Portsoy marble" (which is not marble, but rather serpentine),

locally milled oatmeal which is sold around the world,

Scottish Traditional Boat Festival which is worth over £4 million to the local economy.

two historical harbours and a pottery, whose ceramics are noted for their delicate colouring,

It is the ideal base for walking and wildlife, golf and fishing and following heritage trails for Malt Whisky and Castles.
