The Central Southern England region

Set in the southern coastal town of Gosport, Hampshire with 3 nearby beaches, the property is sat near the Portsmouth Harbour foreshore and is a 5 minute ferry ride to Portsmouth and Gunwharf Quays which has over 90 designer retail outlets, 30 restaurants/cafes/bars, a 14 screen Cinema, Bowling Alley, Casino, Jongleurs Comedy Club, Tiger Tiger Nightclub and The Spinnaker Tower. The tower is the UK's second tallest publicly accessible building where you can stand on its splendid viewing platforms and look out over the water to The Isle of Wight and then back inland as far as the eye can see.

Gosport's great location and close proximity to Portsmouths Historic Dockyard, home to The Mary Rose, Nelsons HMS Victory and the HMS Warrior is part of its appeal. With the addition of world class heritage sites, award-winning museums and historic trails, plus Fort Brockhurst the 17th Century Village and the Alver Valley Wildgrounds, Gosport is packed full of surprises and interesting places. The Dockyard and the Spinnaker Tower are only a short 5 minute ferry ride away and with the retail outlet and leisure complex of Gunwharf Quays there is a range of options for those looking to explore, shop or simply relax and watch the boats go by.

Portsmouth

Hampshire is one of Britain's most unspoiled counties, but its coastline is stuffed with seaside resorts and includes the great maritime cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, two of England's largest and most historic ports. Inland lies the New Forest National Park and Winchester was the 9th century capital of King Alfred's Kingdom plus to the east is the glorious chalk-based South Downs. Just off the shoreline can be found the Isle of Wight and opposite is Gosport, a focus for both windsurfers and yachtsmen. Hampshire is also home to the famous National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, a cute bundle of picturesque villages and some of Britain's most enchanting castles and great houses. The more modern city of Southampton lies on the edge of the New Forest and is a bustling container port. It is blessed with a deep natural harbour making it suitable for the largest of ships, including some of the world's luxurious and biggest cruise liners. It was from here that the Titanic set out on its ill-fated maiden voyage in 1912 and before that in the Pilgrim Fathers embarked on their mission to America aboard the Mayflower. The city of Portsmouth became a major port when Henry VII built the world's first dry dock there. Its Historic Dockyard is home to world famous ships such as The Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. The Mary Rose - Henry VIII's flagship - sank with all on board in 1545 but was miraculously recovered from the ocean in the 1980s and is now on display in the dockyards museum. The Victory was the flagship of Admiral Nelson and he died on board while HMS Warrior 1860 was the world's first iron-hulled battleship. While Portsmouth's cobbled old town contains hidden gems like its 12th century cathedral a more modern attraction is the Spinnaker Tower, which soars to a height of over 500 feet. The UK's second tallest publicly accessible building, it offers stunning views over The Solent and for those who dare you can stand over a section of glass floor where you look down below or over the city, Gosport, the Roman Castle at Portchester, out to sea and the Isle of Wight and as far inland as the eye can see. Also, if you are looking for a day trip you can hop onto a ferry or hovercraft and pop over to the Isle of Wight or take a train at Portsmouth Harbour for a 90 minute ride to London Waterloo where apparently there's one or two other things to see and do :-)
