Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 4
The accommodation is modern and furnished to a high level, the building is in the popular Gunwharf Quays, close to the beaches and all amenities. Gunwharf Quays itself has many good places to eat and drink and a good variety of outlet shopping.
During the summer months this destination is perfect for enjoying the beach and warm evenings outside the local wine bars and restaurants, or even travelling to the Isle of Wight, (the ferry goes from nearby) London (only 1hr &20minutes - train station next to Gunwharf) or to nearby Sandbanks and Bournemouth.
A car is not necessary as the station is so close as are other forms of transport. If you do decide to travel by car the apartment has its own parking space, which is very unusual in this area.

The Central Southern England region
Southsea is a seaside town with a great deal of local history. Charles Dickens was born here and you can visit his birthplace. We have extensive maritime history ( The Victory, Mary Rose and The Warrior), forts and towers from which battles were fought, these can all be visited, including the fort out at sea.
We have a beautiful Cathedral and some lovely churches, the Garrison church is of special interest and the local architecture is quaint.
For children there are the usual activities such as the Sealife Centre, a boating pond, fun fair and model village. There is a nine whole par three pitch and putt course and crazy golf.
Every four years we celebrate the Festival of the Sea, when naval ships from various countries allow the public to view their ships and submarines.
Cowes week is yearly and the ferry to the I.O.W runs from the terminal next to Gunwarf.
We have a Hampshire cricket ground at the Bowl, HedgeEnd - a 20 minute drive away.
Portsmouth hosts a popular beer festival in August and various activities along the seafront during the summer months.
There is of course the graduation celebrations for Portsmouth University in the summer.
We have various different leisure facilities throughout the city, including golf. Please consult the local tourist information for further help.

We spent two weeks here in January 2011- would highly recommend- location, location, location! In addition the place was sparkling clean. So much more cozy than staying in a hotel room. Very modern! … More
Thank you, the location is amazing!
If the option is hotel or the flat, choose the flat every time as more like home.

"Avoid if you dont like the very loud squal of train brakes"
Unfortunately the apartment was situated higher but opposite a very very busy railway track.(We were on the 7th floor) The track came down towards Gunwharf Quays(About 200 yrds away) then had to corner into Portsmouth Railway station. The scream and squeal of the trains brakes as train travelled around the bend and then the noise that resonanted as it passed over a road bridge was unbearable. The trains seemed to run from 5am to midnight and the noise meant you could hardly hear each other speak. We tried to stay out of the apartment as much as we could!!!!!!!
The toaster was damaged and the dishwasher,s tray had 2 wheels missing, consequently the tray caught on the water sprinkler, the pots were not washed properly. My partner had to descale the kitchen as each time we used it, water poured out from the bottom.
The apartment also has has 2 fold down beds, which are very uncomfortable to sit on. I would suggest have at least one comfortable seettee.
The positive side the apartment was very close to all the eaterys, retail shops, sea front and tourist attractions.
If trains are your interest I would recommend this property, if not avoid!
Yes, you can hear trains if the windows are open, however that also means that rail links are very convenient for guests travelling to Portsmouth and during their stay.
