Wynyards is a unique, Serviced Luxury Bed and Breakfast/Self Catering Apartment for one or two adults only, with the essential benefit of a private parking space . With the comfort of a luxury Hotel bedroom and also the space, privacy and convenience of a private suite of rooms including a large fully equipped kitchen, Wynyards is a very special place to stay.
Situated in the prime location on the boundary of Victorian Southsea and Old Portsmouth, Wynyards overlooks Southsea Common towards the Sea. This exclusive Serviced Bed and Breakfast/Self Catering Apartment is available for one or two adults only.
It is fully furnished to luxury standard and fully equipped. A fridge full of generous supplies for a Continental Breakfast, a variety of hot drinks, towels, toiletries, bed linen, utilities, cleaning, parking and internet connection are all included in the price. There is no Guest House timetable to adhere to, breakfast is waitiing for you whenever you wake up. Just bring a change of clothes and a toothbrush!
Wynyards is idyllically placed to visit Portsmouth and Southsea, . All of the top attractions of this fascinating city, including the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quays are within an easy 10 minute walk through the character filled streets of Old Portsmouth, or approx. a £5 taxi fare away. Victorian Southsea Sea front with its funfair and Castle are even closer. You will find Wynyards is an oasis of peace after a long day sightseeing and shopping and you can escape the inevitable late night noise disruption from the cities entertainment venues on Gunwharf Quays when you have had your fill!
With Carparking at nearby Gunwharf Quays costing £20 for 24 hours, our dedicated free Parking is an added bonus.
All of this means that Wynyards is perfect as a base to explore the rich heritage of the U.K's only Island City. With its proximitiy to Gunwharf Quays and easy access to the wide range of sporting and social activities on Southsea Common, it is a perfect location.

500m from the beach, Wynyards overlooks the mature elm trees on the edge of Southsea Common. The Apartment is in a Conservation area and was built somewhere around 1865, giving it an elegance and style of another era.
The Apartment has no Private facilities outside, however being adjacent to Southsea Common its access to first class leisure activities are too numerous to name. Southsea Common is a vast open space that was purchased from the War Department in 1922. It is a popular recreation ground, and also serves as the venue for a number of annual events, including the Southsea Show, Para Spectacular, Military Vehicle Show, Kite Festival and a variety of circuses. Tennis, Volleyball, Skateboarding, Pitch and Putt, Bowels, a Fun Fair, a vast BarBQ area and an indoor swimming pool are amongst the leisure facilities just a few minutes walk from Wynyards.

A generous Continental Breakfast, Utilities, Complimentary Tea, Fresh and Instant Coffee, Hot chocolate, Biscuits and Toiletries all included in the price. For longer stays, Linen and towels are replaced and the Apartment cleaned every five days
When our guests arrive at the Apartment they are shown around by our Housekeeper to familiarise them with its facilities. We can't offer to cook your breakfast for you, but there is nothing to stop you making your own! Our guests would rather have the freedom get up when they wake up, than have to get up to be polite to strangers as in a traditional bed and breakfast establishment.
Wynyards is regularly visited by the owner and equipped to meet our exacting standards. Our guests are treated as family, customer satisfaction and service is our priority. There are absolutely no hidden charges - unlike most the Holiday Apartments in the area, we don't charge extra for cleaning, thus leaving you free to maximise your precious holiday time. We also have low deposit payments and only ask for a damages deposit for longer stays, helping you to plan and budget for a very special holiday.
1-2 Adults only, a breach of this condition will result in the termination of the contract.

Payment:
Book with confidence. Secure Card payments only, no cheques, full legal protection with no risky bank transfers. Card Payment through the secure portal on our website is preferred for both our customers security and ours. We do not accept cash payments.

Rates - from £105 per night. Please note a 2 night minimum booking usually applies.
For stays of up to and including 5 nights, a payment of the first nights stay will be taken from the customer Credit / Debit Card as deposit to reserve the property, with the balance to be taken from the same card 7 days before arrival. For bookings made less than 7 days before arrival, the total amount is payable.
For stays of 6 nights or more, 25% of the total cost of the stay will be taken from the customer Credit / Debit Card as deposit to reserve the property, with the balance to be taken from the same card 14 days before arrival. For bookings of 6 nights or more made less than 14 days before arrival, the total amount is payable.
In addition, for stays of 6 nights or more, a damages security deposit of £100 will be taken from the same Credit/Debit card 14 days before arrival.
Cancellation:
In the event of a cancellation we will endeavour to re-let the property and if successful, will refund any balance paid, less expenses incurred in re-letting. No refund can be given for curtailment of stay or non arrival.

The Portsmouth / Southsea area
Situated on the beautiful central south coast of England, Portsmouth is a dynamic and vibrant waterfront city. Wynyards Apartment is part of Southsea Terrace, built on the edge of what is now Southsea Common, somewhere around 1865. Its architectural style followed on from the early development of Southsea, begun by architect Thomas Owen in the 1830's, which was aimed at the nobility and gentry of Portsea Island. It is the perfect base to start to get to know one of the most interesting Cities in the UK and is in a designated conservation area.
Military Attractions in and around Portsmouth
Portsmouth is the traditional home of the Royal Navy and has an unrivalled naval legacy going back to Roman times. HMS Victory and the Mary Rose are found at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and many other great military attractions are located in the surrounding area, including museums dedicated to the D-Day landings, the Royal Marines and Southsea Castle where Henry VIIIth witnessed the sinking of his flagship, the Mary Rose.
Gunwharf Quays
Next to the Historic Dockyard is the award-winning Gunwharf Quays', where the spectacular waterfront location integrates the maritime heritage of Portsmouth with an unparalleled mix of over 90 designer outlets, 30 cosmopolitan bars and restaurants, an art gallery, cinema, casino and nightclubs.
The Spinnaker Tower
Towering over Gunwharf Quays is the Spinnaker Tower, the tallest viewing tower in Britain, with unparalleled views over the harbour. On a clear day you can see up to 23 miles over to the Isle of Wight, Chichester and the South Downs.
Old Portsmouth
Old Portsmouth is seeped in history with its fortifications offering unrivalled views across the Solent, cobbled streets, old pubs and restaurants.
Southsea
Southsea is one of the most interesting and attractive seafront environments anywhere in Britain. Victorian Southsea boasts 4 miles of coastline, ideal for walking, jogging or cycling along and fantastic views of the unrivalled sailing waters of The Solent. It is flanked by open spaces, parks and gardens, and more sunshine hours than most other places in the UK, as well as many different visitor attractions to explore including a number of the military locations. Southsea also has a vibrant social scene, with numerous bars and eateries which cater for a range of budgets and tastes.
Attractions available in the area are too numerous to list in detail. However they include one of the best golf courses in the South of England plus Pitch and Putt a short walk away, Watersports, Birdwatching, Fishing, Walking, cycling, Historic gardens and monuments, Theatres and Concert Halls, Day visits to The Isle of Wight, London and France. Just returned after having spent two nights at Wynyards Apartment. The location is excellent - handy for both Southsea and Portsmouth. The apartment itself is very well equipped and is immaculate. The owner, Stephanie, goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy your time there - she actually forwarded me a voucher for one of the restaurants in Gunwharf - what service! I would have no hesitaton is recommending Wynyards. |
