The County Antrim region

Here's a list of the big attractions in our area, plus some local secrets we'd like to share with you.

1.Giant's Causeway: Legend has it that the giant, Finn McCool, created this geological marvel. It is a World Heritage Site and now has an impressive visitors centre to match. Tip: car parking charges might take your breath away, so park across the road at the Heritage Railway (also worth a ride).

2.Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge: Spanning a chasm eighty feet deep, it is an exhilarating experience peering down through the wooden slats into the clear waters below. The coastal path offers stunning views of Rathlin and the Scottish Isles, as well as a noisy seabird colony.

3.Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery: Join a tour of the distillery to observe the craft of traditional Irish whiskey making and sample the goods too.

4.Ballintoy Harbour: A picture-postcard pretty harbour with a pocket-sized tea room and magical views. Much-loved by walkers, this is the most celebrated part of the Causeway Coast.

5.Whitepark Bay Beach: The spectacular sandy beach forms a white arc between two headlands including the tiny salmon-fishing village of Portbraddan. The beach is backed by ancient dunes rich in bird and animal life. Enjoy lazy summer days, picnics, making sandcastles and long walks along this truly beautiful beach.

Some of our favourite things to do...

•Exploring the rockpools at Murlough Bay. It is exceptionally beautiful and remote.

•Eating fish and chips from Morton's, Ballycastle. Grab a bench and watch the sun set over Ballycastle Harbour as you tuck into the best battered cod for miles.

•Watching the seals on the beach at Rathlin Island. Hop on the ferry and take a picnic lunch.

•Ambling through the conservation village of Cushendun. It's a great place to stop for coffee as you drive the coastal route. Don't forget to say hello to the resident Billy Goat Gruff.

•Deep sea fishing for cod, mackerel and anything that bites with Captain Chris on his fully equipped boat “The Lord Moyle” sailing out of Ballycastle Marina.

The Royal Portrush Golf Course is less than a mile from the cottage and is rated amongst the top 15 courses in the world. It's a natural seaside links with deep bunkers and expansive roughs, overlooked by the 13th century Dunluce Castle.

Just up the lane from our cottage is Maddybenny riding school, welcoming riders of all abilities from 5 years old.

Anglers will talk up a tall tale after fishing for salmon on the River Bush, just 7 miles east of Copperpot Cottage in sight of the famous Old Bushmills Whisky Distillery.

Portrush itself offers an eclectic mix of shops, restuarants, cafes and seaside amusements for the family. And everywhere has a stunning sea view. The beach offers bucket and spade fun as well as great surf breaks. Several suf schools offer lessons for all the family.

From personal experience, the bustling Ramore Wine Bar offers a broad, well-priced menu (children welcome) and 55 Degrees North is a good option for afternoon tea with great views (children welcome). Further afield, Tartine in Bushmills offers delicious food and an interesting wine list.

"Beautiful cottage"

We had a fantastic weekend in this cottage. It has everything you need. It is spacious throughout and the large living room has a stove. The kitchen has everything you could possibly think off. It is private, it is a short distance to portrush town centre. Can't wait to stay in it again.

You have paid us the biggest compliment by coming back to Copperpot Cottage and staying again. We are delighted you had fun and hope you'll make us a regular haunt for weekend breaks or longer stays.

"Warm, spacious, cosy cottage"

This was a fantastic getaway cottage for us and friends over the New Year period. The owners were very accommodating, especially as our friends arrived slightly earlier than the 3pm check in time.

The cottage was very spacious and well equipped. We where two couples and one 8 month old. The location of the cottage was great! Quiet, but only a short drive (5 mins max) into Portrush.

There were two sitting rooms, one adjoining the kitchen, where the TV was located, this was a great space for our friends baby to play and the from room, with sofas and a wood burning stove.

The location was perfect as there was lots to do in the surround area (even over the holiday period), and the owners had supplied a files of ideas and info should we have needed it.

Should you book this cottage - I recommend the Harbour Bar/Bistro on the sea-front in Portrush....great food.

We hope to return soon!

Thanks for taking the time to review us. We're delighted you got to celebrate your New Year in style and hope that you'll be back to explore more of the Causeway Coast's sights soon.

"3 Night Stay over the Christmas hols"

I stayed for 3 nights, arriving on Christmas Eve, with my wife, our 2 children, a girl aged 7 and a boy aged 3, and my wife's parents. The cottage was decked out in Christmas decorations, and Nicci was there upon arrival to give the tour and help with finding some "Santa" hidey-holes. We all found the accommodation very spacious and well stocked, particularly the kitchen for our Turkey Dinner. Loved the wood-burning fire and the wi-fi always worked well. A great option for the Causeway Coast.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. We're delighted that Christmas at the cottage was merry and that Santa found his way down the chimney!

"Delightful fully equiped cottage, well positioned to explore the Causeway Coast"

Copperpot is a wonderful cottage with everything we needed for a fantastic week with our young family exploring the Causeway Coast. Nikki was a wonderful host, meeting us on site as we arrived, giving us a warm welcome with a stacked fireplace, a good bottle of red and plenty of tips for exploring the local area. The cottage is well positioned to explore the Causeway Coast and has all amenities that we required for our stay. We would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend the cottage to our family and friends. 5 stars.

Thanks for taking the time to review us. We're delighted you enjoyed your time on the North Coast and would love to welcome you back to Copperpot Cottage any time you return to this part of the world.

"Stunning, location and a beautiful place to stay."

This cottage was a gem of a find, the owners could not have been more welcoming; even staying to light the fire and put the lights on, after we got lost coming from the airport.

The cottage was excellently well equipped even down to hotwater bottles, logs for the fire and fresh flowers and wine in the kitchen.

This area of Northern Ireland is beautiful, and even on a cold November weekend we were amazed at the beauty. Returning home to a log fire was icing on the cake.

This part of the world takes on a whole other beauty during the winter and we are so pleased you enjoyed exploring the coast. And we have to agree, the log fire is just superb to snuggle up beside!

Had a brilliant time in Copperpot cottage. It was brilliantly kitted out for the kids.
Had a very peaceful setting but was still only a few minutes from Portrush town centre.
The cottage itself was like something from a story, full of charm and beauty.
The owners were a pleasure to deal with, and nothing was too much bother!
We will hopefully be back!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. And we agree - Copperpot Cottage is a beautiful, magical place, just like the cottages of fairy stories (except a bit more spacious ;))!

"Beautiful cottage"

We hired this cottage on a bank holiday weekend as a base for attending our friend's wedding in Northern Ireland and then for exploring the coast once festivities were over. From the very start we were not disappointed. Nicci was SO welcoming and accommodating...and fresh flowers and wine on arrival too!! Whole cottage was of an impeccable standard, clean, comfortable, decorated beautifully...we had such a pleasant stay! Also it was really well positioned to explore the local areas (and incidentally especially well suited to us as wedding was practically on doorstep). We needed a car rental but then this is true pretty much no matter where you stay in Northern Ireland. Oh and best bit...the log burner :) I want to return to NI just to stay in this cottage (also excellent value for money), can't give higher praise than that.

We are so glad your group enjoyed the festivities and the local area. Thank you for such a positive review!

"Comfortable cosy cottage with friendly efficient hosts."

So difficult to suggest improvements to this cottage it had everything - but noise dampers on the kitcken cupboard doors would be nice!

We're really delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for taking the time to review Copperpot Cottage. As a new cottage this season we are always keen to hear your ideas on how we can improve your stay - thanks for the suggestion. That is definitely something we can make happen.

Warm regards
