The County Antrim region
The Coastal region of County Antrim is truly beautiful as evidenced by the Causeway Coastal Route which is rightly regarded as one of the most scenic drives in the world. From Belfast, hugging the rugged and spectacular coastline, the road meanders through picturesque villages and towns past Carrickfergus and the nine glens of Antrim to Ballycastle, then on to Ballintoy, recently made famous by the filming of the beautiful harbour for 'Game Of Thrones', Bushmills with the world famous Giant's Causeway and the ' World's oldest commercial Distillery .It continues to Portrush and Portstewart with their wonderful beaches and Golf courses (Royal Portrush -Irish Open 2012), through Limavady and finishes up in historic Londonderry(Derry). The route is strewn with ancient sites and landmarks which trace the turbulent and significant history of this region from medieval times to the modern day.
Heading inland the region is fertile farming land with prosperous market towns such as Ballymena, Ballymoney and Coleraine and for those fans of 'Game Of Thrones', the Dark Hedges' outside Ballymoney is a must visit.
Visitors are always impressed by the lush green of the landscape and this is mainly due to our fairly high rainfall although most of it is 'soft' and our temperatures are 'moderate' seldom falling below freezing or rising above 75F.
Whether you are the active type wanting to walk, cycle, golf or surf or simply to relax and enjoy the scenery and rich history of this region then you will not be disappointed
The local area round Portrush is a mecca for holiday makers with beautiful beaches for swimming or surfing, world class links golf courses and endless opportunities to enjoy walking, cycling, fishing (both river and sea), and whatever else takes your fancy!
For those keen on 'Retail therapy' there is ample opportunity in Coleraine and Ballymena and further afield at Londonderry (60 kms) or Belfast (90kms)
The Titanic exhibition in Belfast is a must visit for those interested in the famous but tragic history of the 'unsinkable ship'
During the season there are many festivals and sporting competitions held in the area showcasing the culture and sporting amenities locally and there are numerous excellent restaurants and bars around Portrush, Portstewart, Bushmills and beyond where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the 'Craic' and the genuine warmth of the locals

"Clean, welcoming and everything you need."
Property was located at the edge of the village but near to all the main roads.. Very quiet location but near enough to all the amenities. Spar/Lidl within walking distance along with local takeaways… More
