Hill Cottage is a brand new, extremely comfortable and homely self catering property built by local tradesmen to a very high standard in a traditional Skye design. It sits on top of a hill in the small crofting township of Park Bernisdale, 9 miles from Portree, giving a fantastic panoramic view out over Loch Snizort towards Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Even when the weather is not so good, the light, the sky and the sea combine to give an ever changing, enthralling scene.

The location is extremely private with absolutely no passing traffic. Peace and quiet are guaranteed.

There are 2 bedrooms (a double with an ensuite and a twin), a very comfortable lounge with a log burning stove and a spacious dining room with large adjoining kitchen. They all look out the front of the cottage.

The hot water and underfloor heating are provided by the renewable energy combination of solar panels and air source, which as well as being much more energy efficient than conventional heating systems, gives a much more even and effective level of comfort throughout the cottage.

The cottage is in a great location for visiting north and central Skye with discounts for a couple only or for stays of 2 weeks or longer. It can take a maximum of 4 people including children aged 12 or over. The minimum stay is 3 nights and please ask about availability from any day of the week as well as the traditional Saturday arrivals and departures. The price quoted is the total price. There are absolutely no additional costs.

Free wi-fi is provided amongst many other items such as bed linen, towels, toiletries, washing up liquid, soap powder, tea, coffee, etc, etc,

My old family home, Park Cottage, is another self catering holiday home on the same croft. They are quite separate and private as neither cottage is visible from the other.

The Hebrides/Skye region

The Isle of Skye is known worldwide and with good reason. The scenery and wildlife are there for all to see, everywhere. Castles, Talisker distillery, numerous small craft workshops, hotels, restaurants and cafes give an insight into the island's history and culture. The weather is variable but this just adds to the mix as the light and mountains can be very dramatic through the clouds !

Portree is 9 miles from Hill Cottage and is a lovely big village/small town with a beautiful bay and harbour. The centre has a number of small shops selling local crafts and it is well worth taking a stroll amongst them.
