Portpatrick is situated to the south west of Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway and is a real holiday hotspot. This scenic harbour and rocky coastline is perfect for walking and Portpatrick is the starting point on the Southern Upland Way, Scotland's 212 mile coast to coast footpath, traversing some of southern Scotland's most beautiful landscapes. Portpatrick is an ideal base for coastal walking , exploring the Rhinns of Galloway, the Mull of Galloway, Dumfries and Galloway and up into Ayrshire and the Robert Burns trail.
The Portpatrick area
Portpatrick was once a busy and bustling port, the main port for visitors and goods from Northern Ireland; however, today it's a real holiday destination. Sea angling is also popular here and Portpatrick boasts its own popular golf course. In fact there are many activities in and around Portpatrick, ensuring an enjoyable and exciting visit for our guests.
There is plenty to do in the village, with fishing trips, a sandy beach, bowling green, tennis court, putting green and golf courses. There are also lovely coastal walks - Portpatrick is the starting point for the Southern Upland Way. There is also a good selection of bars and restaurants.
Golfing breaks, walking and cycling holidays, sea fishing, visiting local gardens and estates such as Stair Estate are just a few of the many activities available. In Portpatrick there are well stocked gift and craft shops and Portpatrick harbour is ideal for a lazy time watching boats, including the Portpatrick lifeboat coming and going.

It is set in a beautiful location and the scenery is lovely. We will most definitely be returning to the North Pier in the near future and would recommend this property to anyone. |
