The North East Brazil region
it's the oldest part in Porto Seguro, important for its historical, architectural, cultural and landscape value. A UNESCO-protected World Heritage Site, it's composed exclusively of jealously preserved old colonial buildings and of tropical gardens with fruit trees and flowers. You can't miss the walk through the old town to visit the three churches and the museum (the most massive building, once used as a prison), surrounded by tropical gardens, with views on the beaches protected by the coral reefs and the ocean ... plants, colors, sounds, convey all the charm of Bahia and the saudade of the past
Beaches: the coast of Porto Seguro is divided between north and south and stretches from St. Andre (North) to Caraiva (South) for a total of about 80 km. There are beaches for every taste... Who is looking for fun will certainly find it at the beach of Rio dos Mangues (or Barramares), with a lot of young people, sports, dancing and live music. Some other alternatives are the beaches of Taperapuãn and Itacimirim. For the followers of naturism, there are many beautiful beaches such as the Nudism Beach, Pedra Grande, Itapororoca and Praia do Taipe. The most famous ones for diving are: Parracho, Mundai, the Coroa Vermelha Recife on the Muta' Beach, the Coqueiros Beach and the Nativos Beach. For the landscape lovers: Barra Velha, the Lagoa Azul Beach, Rio da Barra Beach and Do Espelho Beach. The latter was nominated the third best one of the Brazilian coast; its name comes from the transparency of its water that reflects the surrounding landscape like a mirror. Those who like to swim in a calm sea can visit Caraiva Beach, Juacema or Satu Beach, Curuípe Beach and Mucugê Beach. Nature lovers can go trekking between Arraial D'Ajuda and Trancoso. Many beaches have beach equipment such as the banana-jets, kayaks and boats.
