The Mallorca/Majorca region
Porto Petro is a small unspoilt fishing village made up of some white washed houses/apartments and restaurants grouped around a small pretty harbour which is filled with a combination of small boats and some very chic pleasure crafts; as this is the home of the Real Club Nautic de Porto Petro (Royal Sailing club). Boat hire, and boat trips are also available here.
The apartment would suit most ages, but regrettably has no wheelchair access. It is a great base to explore the south east part of the island and is ideally situated within a short stroll from the harbour front where one would find good fish restaurants as well as a number of friendly family restaurants and café-bars. Adjacent to the apartment complex is the luxurious Blau Hotel with a number of restaurants offering fine-dining options.
Porto Petro also boasts two small adequately supplied supermarkets, a bank, a pharmacy, hair-dresser and a church.
Points of interest in the local area include:
Golf: Vall d’or golf course is approximately 20 mins away.
Island of Cabrera Natural Park .
Cala Mondrago Natural Park- ( One can ride a a train to this area).
Saturday Market in Santanyi in the village square (5km away)/and a larger Sunday Market in Felanitx (25km away).
Daily trips in the summer to Cala Ferreira on the Star-fish boat.
Dive school open in the peak season.
Fine- dining at the Luxury Blau hotel.

"amazing holiday in a lovley apartment."
After travelling around majorca for two weeks we spent the last 10 days relaxing in a lovley apartment in Porto Petro . It had everything you required for a stress free break, lovley patio area to sit and chill out. The pool was just out side the apartment with plenty of sun beds and felt like it was our own pool as only a couple of people ever used it. It was home from home rather than a rented apartment, we felt that the photos online did not do it justice , and was so much bigger. We have been comming to Porto Petro for many years now and it gets better every time we come back so this was a lovley end to our holiday. It is a short stroll to the harbour which is nice as you dont have to drive, but if you do Es Molli in santanyi is a lovley restaurant, its tapas in a lovley old converted windmill, not cheap but worth it.The beach of mondrago is 10mins in the car but parking has become a hassle now as it was a hidden gem but now i think every one has found it and is so packed now, but still a lovley beach if you want to go later on in the day.We will be back to toyne next year maybe a bit longer next time

"Beautiful location and a fabulous apartment"
What a lovely location Porto Petro is !
By day there are four beaches to chose from, our favourite being the national park monderago beach - never mind Majorca, it looks more like the Caribbean ! Crystal clear water and pearly white sand. Great for snorkelling and very safe for the kids.
By night there are several restaurants that pave the harbour side so you can relax and dine looking out to sea. It is so unspoilt and even in the height of season a place hidden away from the holiday crowd.
But if you have a car it really is only 10 mins to Cala D'Or where you can get livelier nightlife and a wider variety of restaurants. The port area really is very pretty in the evening, however nothing compares to Porto Petro.
A great day out is the Caves of Drac. If you have a car its an easy drive but get there early (10am or 11am tour latest) because it gets busy. Kids under 10 are free. Also its only 45 mins ish to Palma which is well worth a visit. Again either go early morning or go early evening - the Cathedral is well worth its money. We didn't do the StarFish boat trip which visits all the local bays because we explored them via car but I am led to believe its very good, although it looked rather packed. .
The apartment ticked all the boxes for us….2 bedrooms beautifully furnished, 2 bathrooms which had obviously been very recently installed - very modern and fresh, satellite tv for the kids showing all the UK channels, dishwasher and washing machine, a great sized family lounge, an extensive outside area with some distant views of the sea and the much needed air con !! Don't go to anywhere that doesn't have it !!! The house is welcoming, nicely presented, very comfortable and makes you at home. My favourite part was opening the bedroom doors onto the patio area and lying in bed with the sunshine streaming in ! It really is a spacious, well presented home from home.
The pool area is just outside the front door (5 secs away) so its possible to be inside whilst the kids still swim. You can still hear then and call out to them very easily. Perfect. The only criticism I'd have of the pool area is the lack of umbrellas for that much needed shade but there is a tree to hide under so its not a problem. The pool doesn't really have a deep end so its perfect for kids. It's a great depth for all.
One recommendation I would have for the owners is the provsion of Wifi which may of this standard now offer.#
The location and property are excellent for a family wanting a relaxed holiday away from the crowds. You will not be disappointed !!

"Perfect week in Porto Petro"
We stayed here for 7 nights with 2 small children in October 2011. The apartment is located is the small fisher village of Porto Petro, the beautiful East coast of Mallorca. Due to it's location, a car is not necessary but helpful to explore the wider area. In the village everything is within walking distance, the beach, a SPA of a 5 star hotel, restaurants and water sports. The apartment itself was perfectly kitted out for our stay and was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. It is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area and offers incredible value for money; We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to this part of Mallorca.
