The Rabelo boat is a traditional Portuguese boat, which for centuries held the job of transporting people and goods along the river Douro. It is native of the Douro region; it exists nowhere else in the world. Its history is closely linked to the production and trade of Port Wine. Although no longer in use, we can still admire these graceful vessels belonging to Port Wine Companies on the banks of the River Douro, in the cities of Porto and Gaia.

The apartment building is located in a safe renovated historical building overlooking the Douro River at the heart of the historic center of Porto between the monumental Customs Congress Center and the Ribeira area that is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Rabelo apartment is a newly refurbished one bedroom apartment on the 2º floor, perfect for 2 guests, providing an extremely cozy, elegantly furnished and relaxed atmosphere.

It is guaranteed to be an unforgettable travelling experience providing a unique and magnificent panoramic view overlooking the Rabelo boats navigating the river Douro and Vila Nova de Gaia, where the wine warehouses of notable Port Wine companies are located.

Due to its excellent location the Rabelo apartment at the riverfront is perfect for exploring the historical center, it is surrounded by cafes and shops that make this area one of the main tourist areas of the city. Here everything is accessible within a short walk to the main tourist attractions of the city located within a 15 minute walk, the Church of San Francisco, São Bento Station, Avenue of the Allies, Porto Cathedral, etc.., and within walking distance to Gaia/ Port caves.

Animation during the day and night gives the Ribeira and the surrounding areas a unique touch of history, tradition, excitement and beauty.

You just need the time and curiosity to see what the city has to show .... either for a few days, a weekend or a week.

-Public parking in front; public transportation (buses, electric tram & metro) to the various attractions, beaches and nearby towns.

What is Porto?

Mix monuments by leading world architects from the past and the present, and some fantastic baroque carvings.

Add a world-famous sweet wine and a certain British flavor.

Place it all by a grand river, and you have "O Porto," the port, Porto -- Portugal's second largest metropolis, and one of Europe's most charismatic cities. (by gooporto). This is the city that originated and named Port Wine, and gave birth to one of world history's legendary figures, Prince Henry the Navigator.

Porto: The Invincible City

If you want to stay central to the most important tourist attractions in Porto, this is the place to stay and enjoy. It is located in the heart of the Ribeira district and gives guests the chance to experience and enjoy the most authentic town and other characteristical aspects of Porto,as well as an opportunity to taste our mediteranean Portuguese cuisine and wine, This central neighborhood is safe and is well connected to public transportation. "The most fantastic service, best location, and sweetest amenities!"

This is all you need to know: the best location to stay in Porto, being Porto, is directly on the river across from the port cellars and around the corner from the old town. The Sao Francisco and the Tree of Jesse two minutes away and another two minutes to the Cathedral District. The best apartment to have is one that is fitted is if you designed it, put all your heart into it, own it and ensured it has all the amenities you want in an apartment. The best host you can have is someone who lays out all your best economical and tasteful options, regardless of your style, has high energy, is generous, thinks as a guest and is very available. This is Cristina and her family's apartment. She turned us on to the francesinha, the total local sandwich, at the Verso Em Pedra downstairs. She and her family waited for us and saved us a free parking spot to save us a couple euros across the street. She took us to a cafe 50 meters away for a cappuccino and toast breakfast special for 1.40 euros. She laid out the specific routes for the port wine experience. The apartment. The view of the port boats on the river, in our face, not peekaboo. Juice, Keurig, treats for us to our heart's content. Found out where were were going next and led us by phone along a remote road to one of our best meals in Portugal. It's more than where we stayed, it was how it was delivered.
