The Costa Verde region

Porto, divided between the river Douro and the Atlantic ocean, is a coastal city that boasts of poetic sunsets where the eyes absorb and the soul savours.

Porto is known for giving its name to the Port wine, and is like a balcony over Vila Nova de Gaia. Porto gives the name as Vila Nova de Gaia hosts the caves!

I will introduce you to some places that I consider should not be forgotten in a visit to Porto and that will surprise you.

A good starting point is Boavista area where you can visit the most recent and modern cultural space of the city: Casa da Musica. Following Avenida da Boavista below, we come to the Gardens and Museum of Serralves. In this museum can find fabulous Portuguese contemporary art exhibitions and international, to also visit and enjoy its magnificent gardens.

At downtown, how about a visit to some of the most remarkable monuments of Porto, as the Tower of the Clerigos, Carmo Church, the Cathedral and the National Theatre S. João (can find all the info needed for a site visit to the city of Porto Tourism). There would also like to walk along Rua Miguel Bombarda and visit some of its art galleries.

At night I advise passing through a street of Paris Gallery, the new venue city of the young guys. This area is known for its cosmopolitan side, with normal find here people of various nationalities who are working or studying in the city and looking for some fun.

Other day, nothing better than an evening in Cais de Gaia, near the traditional wine cellars of Porto. It is the ideal place to enjoy the sunset, the sun reflected on the Douro River, accompanied by friends and a Port wine.

Porto, Portugal

Port Wine is a fortified wine produced exclusively in the Douro Demarcated Region and aged in cellars. It stands out from ordinary wines thanks to its range of varieties, and the incomparable richness and intensity of its aroma and flavor.

UNESCO heritage

Due to the many historical buildings and urban mesh of Porto’s historical centre, it was designated World Cultural Heritage in 1996.

Try them with an open mind as Porto has gone beyond tradition in order to be the best in international and local cuisine.

A night in Porto equals a good time spent in good company. With every passing day, Porto becomes the place to be, with great variety and quality nightlife to be enjoyed.

Apart from its historical legacy, Porto also explores its urban and contemporary identity and presents different cultural and heritage projects.
