About the home

Large spacious French home, beautiful private garden with summer kitchen. The house comprises a double bed, ceiling fan, large built in wardrobe space with double opening doors to garden and terrace, the other bedroom comprises, ceiling fan, three single beds one of which is a cabin bed (not ideal for children under age of 6), this also opens with double doors onto separate private terrace area and main garden. Downstairs is the kitchen comprising all mod cons including dishwasher. Main family bathroom which comprises 2 sinks, bath, toilet. Also downstairs separate toilet and separate shower room. The living area downstairs has a log burner, Large Flat Screen LCD 32" TV, DVD Player. Two large sofas seating easily 9 people.
The 1st floor of the house comprises a Mezzanine style large room which includes a good quality spring action double sofa bed. Then the 2nd floor of the house has the final bedroom which consists of built in wardrobe space, double bed and ceiling fan.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

This is the ideal place to relax, swim and soak up all the sun! Calm and peaceful with an abundance of Mediterranean charm, the village of Portiragnes Plage is surrounded by fields and vineyards. Located 5km from Béziers it is an ideal location for the perfect holiday.

The Portiragnes area

Portiragnes village is located 2km inland from the beach and is a typically French village with great boulangeries (bakers) for fresh baguettes, butchers, a post office, a cash point machine, a sports hall (organised activities in the summer), a church and 2 or 3 restaurants. A fantastic restaurant to visit is 'Mon Reve d'Enfant'. There is of course a tourist office next to the town hall and a little Spar shop for all your needs.

Also the wine co-operative (La Campestre) is where you can try the fine local wine the Sauvignon and Vigneron are especially good.

We recommended you hire a car this way you can experience all of the regions natural beauty and history. Flights leave UK airports Birmingham, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bristol, Doncaster, Durham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Stansted. Airlines include Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, BA, to the following airports, Beziers (15 mins) Montpellier (55 mins) Perpignan or Carcassonne (60 mins) Nimes (1 hour 10 mins) Girona (Spain) Toulouse Marseille Rodez (2 hours). From experience the earlier you book your flights the cheaper they will be.
If you decide not to hire a car then flying to Beziers taxi to our house is approximately 15€ we can provide you with a local taxi number. During July and August it is easy to get to the beach daily as a navette bus service leaves frequently from the village to the beach cost last year for each journey was 1€ per person.

“Fab in France” Amazing house, great location, lovely village and safe clean beach very close by. Highly recommended.

“Lovely big house in an ideal situation for beach and canal.” The pretty avenue of blooming oleander trees welcomed us to Jenny and Jamies lovely big house just off this street. This lovely big house had everything we needed for our four week holiday and the weather was just perfect except for a couple of thunderstorms during which time we watched the rain while eating in the summer kitchen. We do not eat out very often for dietry reasons, so cooked meals most days and found all the utensils we needed plus as much china for a large family and more. We enjoyed a meal at the Riding Stables, but don't eat outside as the flies are a pest. The large bathroom is ideal for two or even more people with lashings of hot water. Very comfortable bed, but no bedside cabinets so made Jennie aware. Comfortable lounge with plenty of room to spread out in to read, watch tv etc. All in all a great house to stay in. I had to contact Jenny as I could not open the door to the washing machine, (it was my fault as I did not tug hard enough) and happily she replied almost immediately sorting out my problem. We enjoyed cycling to the beach, (several restaurants here and shops) and along the canal path plus keeping watch on a pair of storks bringing up their two nestlings, boats, barges and other people having fun. The village Spar shop was useful, with the larger supermarkets on route to Bezier. We bought bread and pastries from the local shops, fruit and vegetables from the roadside stalls. I had occasion to visit the local doctor nearby, no appointment needed, just walk in, with a useful pharmacy just next door. We bought wine to take home from the village wine cave and from a wine cave in Villeneuve. All in all we had a fantastic holiday doing just what we like doing and would love to go back and do it all over again. Thank you so much Jenny and Jamie for the use of your lovely home.

Note that we provide bath towels (not beach) for each person. Linen is provided FREE for 1st 4 people and then charged at £5 per person after that.

Time of arrival at the house is 3 pm and departure time is 10 am.

Long term stays may be subject to a surchage for heating costs.

We also request a damages deposit of £125. This will be returned after your holiday and the cost of any damages/breakages will be deducted if necessary.

We can accept payments by cheque or bank transfer in GBP or Euros. We can also accept payments by credit/debit cards however for large payments by credit card there maybe a transaction charge, please feel free to contact us.

We ask that a £100 non-refundable deposit per week is required to secure the booking, balance is payable 8 weeks before departure.
