This secluded holiday villa is on the headland overlooking the Marina and beach at Praia da Rocha. Madrigal offers complete privacy with it's own heated pool, yet is within walking distance of the all the delights of the exciting seaside resort of Praia da Rocha, which makes it ideal for families with teenagers on a different timetable or groups of friends wishing to sample the local night life as well as enjoy the sea, sun and fun. And you don't need a car at all.
The wide Atlantic beach is only a few yards away where there is water-skiing, sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing and pedalos, tennis courts, beach sports and many beach bars and restaurants along the lit boardwalk which is lit at night. There are also shops, cafes, a cinema, a casino, bowling alley, bars, discos and every kind of restaurant and much more. With maid service 5 days per week you can relax completely.
There are four 24 hole golf courses, one is only 2 kms away. A short excursion takes you to the Monchique mountains or the magnificent west coast surfing beaches.

Madrigal is on three stories. The main house is on the ground floor with 3 bedrooms on the first floor. The sitting room givers onto a terrace overlooking the Marina in the harbour of Portimão and across to the village and castle of Ferragudo. The views are magnificent.
Access to the pool is either from the sitting room or from the kitchen terrace. Downstairs is a two bedroom suite with a sitting room and kitchenette and a terrace overlooking the harbour. Though accessible by stairs (that can be closed off) from the main house it also has s/c entrance.

Children are welcome, however the villa is on three stories with many terraces, verandas and balconies and care MUST be taken with crawlers and toddlers.
Conditions
• Strictly no smoking except on the balcony.
• Refundable breakages deposit of €150 required with rental payment, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
• 30% of rental fee to secure booking.
• Changeover Day during 2012 - Saturday.
The Algarve / West Algarve region
Algarve was known as the garden of Portugal, the range of hills and Monchique mountain protect it from the north and keep the temperature a few degrees warmer than the rest of Portugal. The main crop was olives, figs and almonds. Ferragudo, the pretty village close to the marina was settled in Roman times and then later by the Moors.
Its rose red stone castle which dominates the view from the terrace across the harbour is privately owned to this day, Portimão was established within fortress walls in the 17th century and became famous for its 21 sardine factories.
Due to diminishing shoals the fishing fleets are gone and the factories are now closed, one of them, La Rose, is an interesting museum with films about the sardine industry that perished not so long ago.
The Portimao / Praia da Rocha area
Praia da Rocha is a very old resort. A watering place at the turn of the century where gentle folk came for to take famous 'Aires das Rochas'. Such people required entertainment and a casino was built, with minstrel gallery and ballroom. Soon villas appeared along the cliff-top and eventually a hotel. The legendary 'Hotel Viola' where spies and secret agents met to plot.
The old Fortaleza which used to defend the harbour houses a restaurant and cafés. The beach has been widened when sand was pumped from the harbour to make the ferry-port and there is a boardwalk for the convenience of strollers. Praia da Rocha now has every amenity for tourist of every age group. There are Folklore Festivals, Film Festivals and Music Festivals. Speedboat races and sailing regattas.
You can go Big Game Filshing, Dolphin Watching or sail up the river to Silves. All from the Marina below the villa. For the night-lifers there are bars, discos, casinos, dining and dancing, ice-skating and bowling and if I have missed something you will find it.

We had a lovely stay at villa madrigal. The villa was ideally situated for ease of access to all local amenities. It was the perfect place for the relaxing holiday we were hoping for and we had everything we needed to hand. We would recommend this villa and would consider returning in the future. BJ was very helpful prior, during and following our holiday which we really appreciated. |
