The Algarve region

Gaily painted boats in fishing ports gracefully bob up and down. Sparkling white-washed houses with distinctive Moorish chimneys are dotted everywhere. In spring the entire region is carpeted with white almond blossom.

The Algarve has something to offer everyone, tempting golf courses on which international tournaments are played, superb tennis and riding, and every watersport you can think of. Walk through the busy local markets to choose from traditionally- made handicrafts such as matgrass baskets and rugs, beautiful hand-painted pottery and tiles, beaten copperware and intricate bobbin-lace. At night visit one of the many glittering casinos or clubs, or simply sit outside beneath the stars and sample some freshly-caught seafood.

There is much, much more to the Algarve than sun and sea. You can discover the remains of Roman towns, admire cool tiled churches and explore narrow winding side streets.

At the popular fishing village of Alvor you can still see fishermen sitting on the beach beside their colourful boats mending nets. Inland lies Lagoa - famous for its wines, Silves - with its red sandstone castle and battlements standing proudly against a background of mountains, and Caldas de Monchique - a quaint Roman spa town. Lagos, on the coast, was one of the earliest settlements where Prince Henry the Navigator built his ships for the voyages of discovery

Sesmarias is a small village ideally situated between the thriving coastal town of Portimão and the beautiful quaint fishing village of Alvor.

Sesmarias is set on the edge of the Algarvian countryside, within easy reach of all the excellent facilities of Portimão and yet you can still relax and enjoy the slower pace of life in this typical Portuguese community. Local restaurants and cafés within walking distance.

Sample different aspects of the Algarve within a few minutes drive or bus ride:

Alvor fishing village with cobbled streets, full of local Portuguese artesanto and culture. Alvor has something for everyone—beaches, shops, harbour, wildlife, seafood and a subtle international feel.

Beaches of Três Irmaõs or Torre Alto in Alvor. Also Praia da Rocha.

Golf Courses - Penina & Alto Golf

Portimão Harbour and all the facilities of a thriving coastal town.

Also, join the main A22 or EN125 routes nearby, and you can sample the:

Magnificent Monchique Mountains (20 mins drive)

Zoomarine - marine wildlife park, dolphins and themepark

Slide & Splash - waterslide park

"A great place to enjoy a good holiday"

Good service and advice from friendly owners," though not intrusive" The accomodation was comfortable with all mod-cons, ie two bathrooms. The property is in a modern area facing open views towards the sea, where you can watch the paragliders come out of the blue to land at the small airfield near Alvor. There are two local Cafe/Restraurants 2-3mins walk away plus the popular O Chef Silvestre where you can have amazing Lamb chops.
We have stayed here three times in the last 12 months and have not always hired a car as the bus stops near by to take you to the beaches, and the taxis are not expensive.
It is a please your self holiday, you can stay "home" and relax on the terrace or in the small garden, have a BBQ, cook in the kitchen, eat out, or go exploring.

Thankyou for taking the time to send your review. Hope to see you again.
