Mexilhoeira Grande is ideally situated in between Lagos and Portimão where its possible to find various restaurants, night life and several beaches. The house is located less than 5min away from natural reserve - Ria de Alvor with stunning views of the surrounding nature with a multitude of birds species to observe. For the more adventurous, there are perfect conditions for kayaking, windsurf, kitesurf and snorkeling.

The Algarve region
Mexilhoeira Grande is a small village situated bettween Lagos and Portimão. The property is located near the Natural Reserve ( 5min ) and close to the historical maritime town of Lagos rich in portuguese traditions but which has a multicultural atmosphere. Places to visit in Lagos - sea caves, Ponta da Piedade-lighthouse, Cultural Centre hosting various musical and artistic events. The climate is generally temperate in spring and autumn with the temperature rising in the summer months.
Portimao / Mexilhoeira Grande area
Alvor - small fishing village within 10 min drive with various restaurants, local shops and beaches. Portimão - Praia da Rocha - a long stretch beach with sport infrastructures and beach bars; Auditório Municipal offers a various choice of cultural events; Zona Ribeirinha - exibitions and music and festival and Sardines Festival in August. Lagos - historical maritime town with a multicultural atmosphere.In this town there are placed several frestivals such as: Festival da Condelipa in March- delicious sea food; Arte Doce -tradicional sweets and cakes; Banho 29 - tradicional midnight sea bath with music, fire places and fire works on 29th of August; Festival dos Descobrimentos -.XVI century representation of way of life, gastronomy, art and street theatres will be placed in downtown Lagos in June 2008.
Take Via do Infante motorway from Faro towards Lagos . Leave the motorway after Portimão at Mexilhoeira exit.On the first round about go straight on and in the 2nd round about turn left towards Portimão. Within 3 min it shows up a structure made with a bycicle and a kayak on your left hand side pull over on your right side. Train from Faro station towards Lagos and stop in Mexilhoeira Grande just after Portimão.
