We are pleased to offer this lovely, well-equipped and homely self-catering accommodation in the popular little seaside resort of Porthtowan in Cornwall.
The apartment sleeps 4-6 (4 in bedrooms, 2 on an occasional-use metal-action sofa bed in lounge).
Awarded a 3* English Tourist Board rating, “Sea Echoes' is a compact ground floor apartment, which is ideally situated in the heart of Porthtowan, less than a minute's walk from the beach, but set back slightly so as not to be too near the main bustle of the village.
You will thoroughly enjoy the sea and beach views, across the car park, which can especially be enjoyed from the garden (solely used by 'Sea Echoes') – at the right time of year you will hopefully be lucky enough to see the spectacular sight of the sun setting into the sea - breathtaking.
There are two parking spaces allocated to this property - a rare luxury for a seaside resort!
Bed linen, a hand towel and a tea towel are provided (guests must provide their own bath and beach towels).
Check-in time is not before 2:30 pm, check-out is by 10:00 am.

The accommodation comprises:
- Small entrance hall leading to two bedrooms: there is one double bedded room with two double wardrobes (suggested this clothes storage is shared with the other occupants) and a chest of drawers. There is one small box-room with adult size bunk-beds and a bedside cabinet and there is extra sleeping for two in the lounge where the sofa is a metal-action occasional-use double bed.
- Modern fitted kitchen with microwave, full-size cooker, electric hob, fridge and freezer, washing machine, etc. All cooking equipment and crockery, cutlery, glasses etc are provided for 6 people.
- A comfortable lounge area (open plan with the kitchen) with suite, HD TV with HD Freesat, DVD player and stereo.
- Updated bathroom that has bath with electric shower over, washbasin and WC.
- Wooden conservatory containing modern glass dining table and 6 chairs.
- Free unlimited Wi-Fi is available for your use.
- A payphone is provided in the lounge for guests to use, as there is no mobile signal down in the village. Guests can give this payphone landline number to friends/relatives so they can be contacted during their time in the property (although some guests choose to remain uncontactable!!). You can normally get a mobile signal from the Blue Bar (some networks) just across the car park, or from the beach/coastal path.
- A highchair is provided free of charge.
- A travel cot is provided free of charge, should guests prefer not to bring their own (please note: no cot bedding is provided).

Outside to the rear there is a wooden conservatory leading out to a south facing, partly paved and partly lawned garden (for your use only) with wooden table and benches. A barbecue is provided for guests to enjoy.
Outside to the front there is a shared (with the upstairs flat) paved area which leads out to a small car park, private to the residents, where you will have use of 2 parking spaces - a rare luxury for a seaside resort!

A clean, well behaved pet is welcome at a nominal additional charge (please enquire). Please note there is a dog ban on most Cornish beaches from Easter Day to 1st October, but the green/dunes and coastal walks are right next to the property.
The Cornwall region
Cornwall is such a beautiful place and a variety of holiday styles can be thoroughly enjoyed here. Whether you prefer an active holiday where you can go surfing and enjoy other watersports, or you like to go walking and take in the beautiful sights on the County's many coastal paths, or you just prefer to take things easy and relax on a beach holiday – Porthtowan on the north coast of Cornwall is the ideal resort for you!
Porthtowan is ideally centrally located to visit so many Cornish attractions. Visit St Ives and the Tate Gallery, the world famous Eden Project, Lanhydrock House and Gardens, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, the wonderful Minack Theatre, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and even the Cornish Gold Centre which is just up the road - the options are absolutely endless and a holiday pack will be provided at "Sea Echoes" for you to peruse and decide which of the many attractions you would like to visit.
Porthtowan is a very popular seaside resort, more 'chilled' and less busy than some of the more famous Cornish coastal resorts. Porthtowan has been awarded a "Seaside Award Category A - Resort Bathing Beach". This is the highest UK based award scheme recognising Porthtowan as a great beach with clean water coupled with facilities such as public toilets and car parking. Porthtowan village is suited to everyone – families, couples and singles - and it is extremely popular with surfers and body-boarders. A lovely beach anyway, but especially when the tide is out, exposing a large expanse of lovely sand and interesting rock pools for children to explore - not forgetting the sea water swimming pool hidden behind the rocks on one side! Safe for the family, the beach is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during busy periods.
The village offers three bars - the Unicorn immediately across the green from the property is a family friendly pub which serves very good, simple 'pub grub' and the Victory at the top of the hill also offers a friendly atmosphere. For those who may prefer something a bit livelier, the infamous Blue Bar is located right on the edge of the beach and regularly hosts local bands and acts, which you can enjoy whilst watching the sun set over the sea.
The nearest club can be found in Redruth, just a 10 minute drive away, but the much larger cathedral city of Truro is only about 25 minutes away and boasts many lively bars and some great clubs; for an even wilder night-life Newquay is about 30 mins drive away! There is a bus-stop just across the road from the property and Redruth train station is only about 10 minutes away.
For dining out, as well as the pubs, the Boardroom is a very nice restaurant adjoining the Blue Bar, so again boasts a great location by the beach. The Boardroom can be exclusively hired for special occasions and we have accommodated many guests who have been attending small weddings there. The wedding photo opportunities by the sea are spectacular! The next village along, Mount Hawke, is a only a 5 minute drive away and here you will find the recently opened gastro-pub, the Old School Bar & Kitchen. The village of St Agnes, only a 10 minute drive away, has various pubs as well as a traditional Meadery (well worth a visit but, be warned, the Cornish Mead is very drinkable but very strong!).
The nearby village of Portreath is well known for its Mineral Tramroad, which now provides an excellent bicycle trail from the north coast at Portreath along to the south coast at Devoran and this can be joined not too far from the property, just off the Porthtowan-Portreath road (if you need to hire bikes, visit The Bike Barn at Elm Farm on the road to Portreath).
The nearest golf course is at Radnor Golf & Ski Centre, a 5 minute drive away. Radnor has a fun indoor ski machine where instructors will teach you to ski from scratch or you can have lessons to brush up on your technique before your Winter holiday! There is also a golf course in the other direction at Tehidy, which is about 3 or 4 miles away. Tehidy Country Park is certainly worth a visit - it is the largest single area of woodland in West Cornwall - some 250 acres! It offers over 9 miles of footpaths and trails and also bridle tracks. Children will love the walks around the lakes, feeding the swans, ducks and friendly squirrels!

"Very nice accommodation in great location"
We have always enjoyed visiting Porthtowan when in Cornwall but never actually stayed in the village, and this was perfect for us.
Very comfortable, well equiped and spacious accommodation. Great location so close to the beach and shops and pub, but it was quiet - no problems with noise at all. It was lovely sitting in the garden or the conservatory and watching the sea. The parking space was a real bonus

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sorry you had a few negative points, which I would like to comment on as follows as some changes have since been made. Re smoking: we decided at the end of last season to change our properties to 'non-smoking' so the smell of smoke will no longer apply. Re the conservatory: we appreciate the conservatory could get rather cool in cold weather so we have now put in an electric radiator. Re the mattresses: the two single mattresses in the bunk-bedded room were only two weeks old when you holidayed at “Sea Echoes” and were good quality ones so we are assuming you mean the double mattress, which has now been replaced also, together with a new double bed. Re the bedroom doors: we are contemplating replacing the double bedroom door with a normal door (both rooms have a wooden bi-fold door to maximise space, but we appreciate a normal door would provide more privacy and thank you for your comments). Re cleaning: we are not at all sure where you got the impression that every tenant is solely responsible to do the main clean when they leave – this is absolutely not the case and a cleaner comes in to do a thorough changeover before each new guest arrives; we ask that guests leave the property clean and tidy as on changeover days there is only time for the expected general clean, but the expected general clean is a standard changeover clean taking 3 hours so by that we just mean that we expect guests not to leave the property full of washing up or covered in sand or dog hair, for example – it is a shame you did not contact us to alert us of your concerns as we would have been more than happy to come in and clean the property again for you. Re the price: you holidayed with us right through Easter week, covering Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, so at £65 per night for the entire apartment over Easter we do not feel at all that that is poor value for money, in fact quite the opposite and we are among the cheapest of holiday lets compared to other similar properties in the village. Porthtowan is indeed a small village, not by any means a big touristy resort such as, for example, St Ives or Newquay, so it does indeed suit those looking for a more quiet and chilled out holiday. We are pleased you enjoyed the large beach at low tide and hope you discovered the lovely walk along the sand down to Chapel Porth.
