Home description

We are pleased to offer this lovely, well-equipped self-catering accommodation in the popular seaside resort of Porthtowan in Cornwall. The apartment sleeps 4-6 (4 in bedrooms, 2 on metal-action sofabed in lounge).

Awarded a 3* English Tourist Board rating, “Sea Echoes" is a compact ground floor apartment, which is ideally situated in the heart of Porthtowan, less than a minute's walk from the beach, but set back slightly so as not to be too near the main bustle of the village.

You will thoroughly enjoy the sea and beach views, across the car park, which can especially be enjoyed from the garden – at the right time of year you may be lucky enough to see the spectacular sight of the sun setting into the sea - breathtaking!

Whether you prefer an active holiday where you can go surfing and enjoy other watersports, or you like to go walking and take in the beautiful sights on the County's many coastal paths, or you just prefer to take things easy and relax on a beach holiday –Porthtowan on the north coast of Cornwall is the ideal resort for you!

Now even more easily accessible with the new addition to the A30, there is no excuse for avoiding the journey - the benefits will be so worth it! Porthtowan is ideally centrally located to visit so many Cornish attractions. Visit St Ives and the Tate Gallery, the world famous Eden Project, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, the wonderful Minack Theatre, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and even the Cornish Gold Centre which is just up the road - the options are absolutely endless and a holiday pack will be provided at "Sea Echoes" for you to peruse and decide which of the many attractions you would like to visit.


Porthtowan / Kingsley Cove area

Porthtowan is a very popular seaside resort, which has been awarded ‘Blue Flag’ status for its lovely clean beach. Porthtowan village is suited to everyone – families, couples and singles - and it is extremely popular with surfers.

The village offers a variety of pubs to suit those looking for a quieter time (the Unicorn immediately across the green from the property is a family friendly pub which serves very good, simple ‘pub grub’ and the Victory at the top of the hill also offers a friendly atmosphere) and also those who may prefer something a bit livelier (the Blue Bar is located right on the edge of the beach and regularly hosts local bands and acts).

The nearest clubs can be found in Redruth and Camborne, just a 10 minute drive away. The cathedral city of Truro is about 25 minutes away and boasts many lively bars and some great clubs; for an even wilder night-life Newquay is about 30 mins drive away! There is a bus-stop just across the road from the property and Redruth train station is only about 10 minutes away.

For dining out, as well as the pubs, the Boardroom is a very nice restaurant adjoining the Blue Bar, so again boasts a great location by the beach. A short ½ mile drive out of the village will take you to the Flaming Wok, a very good Chinese restaurant that regularly offers ‘all you can eat’ buffets!

The nearby village of Portreath is well known for its Mineral Tramroad, which now provides an excellent bicycle trail from the north coast at Portreath along to the south coast at Devoran and this can be joined not too far from the property, just off the Porthtowan-Portreath road, on the junction down from the Flaming Wok (if you need to hire bikes, visit The Bike Barn at Elm Farm on the road to Portreath).

The nearest golf course is at Radnor Golf & Ski Centre, a 5 minute drive away. Radnor has a fun indoor ski machine where instructors will teach you to ski from scratch or you can have lessons to brush up on your technique before your Winter holiday! There is also a golf course in the other direction at Tehidy, which is about 3 or 4 miles away. Tehidy Country Park is certainly worth a visit - it is the largest single area of woodland in West Cornwall - some 250 acres! It offers over 9 miles of footpaths and trails and also bridle tracks. Children will love feeding the swans in the large south lake!

- Small entrance hall leading to two bedrooms: one double-bedded room with a mixture or wardrobes and drawers, and one bunk-bedded box-room.
- Modern fitted kitchen with microwave, full-size cooker, electric hob, fridge and freezer, washing machine, etc. All cooking equipment and crockery, cutlery, glasses etc are provided for 6 people.
- A comfortable lounge area (open plan with the kitchen) with double sofa bed for extra sleeping and armchairs, TV with Sky Freesat, DVD/VCR and stereo.
- Recently fitted bathroom that has bath with electric shower over, washbasin and WC.
- Wooden conservatory dining area with modern glass dining table and 6 chairs.
- Free Wi-fi is available for your use.
- A payphone is provided for guests to use in the lounge as there is poor mobile signal in Porthtowan.

* If booking made more than 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday - 25% of the rental fee to be forwarded as Holiday Deposit (together with the Security Deposit).

* If booking made less than 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday - whole of the rental fee required immediately (+ Security Deposit).

*Should payment not be received when requested, your booking may be cancelled and the Holiday Deposit lost. Your Security Deposit of £100 will be returned.

*Cancellations: up to 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday a cancellation will result in the forfeit of the Holiday Deposit. Cancellations less than 8 weeks prior to the holiday will result in the forfeit of the total rental fee. In both cases the Security Deposit will be returned in full. If the apartment can be re-let at this short notice, the rental will be returned minus the Holiday Deposit.
