About the home

This 3-storey, 3 Bedroomed beach house includes Kitchen, Lounge and separate Conservatory area. There are 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 in total, including one room with bunk beds. One double room has en-suite toilet and bathroom while both double rooms have stunning sea views. There is 1 family bathroom.

There is a small front garden where plenty of beach and sports equipment is stored which guests are welcome to use (including bodyboards), along with a drying line. The back garden is a delightful patio area with sunset views onto Porthtowan bay complete with BBQ and garden furniture, while a gate and steps provide easy beach access.
The location of the house allows freedom to safely wander between beach, garden and the magnificent blue bar, while never being far from the conveniences of home, perfect for families with children.

The location of Porthtowan also means that you can easily spend a day or evening sampling other local areas such as St Ives, Godrevy or St Agnes, whilst the main shopping area of Truro is only 15 minutes away with a good cinema. Porthtowans location and atmosphere, along with a full time lifeguarded beach and great restaurant and bar facilities, provide a safe and fun environment for the perfect holiday.

The Porthtowan / Kingsley Cove area

Porthtowan is one of the UK's top surfing beaches, bordered by soft white sand and rolling dunes while there are a number of quality shops, cafes and bars. One of the most popular with both visitors and locals is the Blue Bar, situated just at the edge of the beach, where in the bar's chilled out surroundings, you can relax with a drink, some good food and watch the sunset over the ocean. A Lifeguard service operates daily from May to September.
The famous Cornwall coastal path runs right through Kingsley Cove, with some breathtaking walks right to the doorstep, and the beach and dunes of Porthtowan are just yards away.
Porthtowan is a perfect balance between activities to keep all entertained, while maintaining a charming 'small village' feel that some coastal village lose due to overcrowding.

By Road:
Follow the A30 south-west towards Penzance until you reach Chiverton Cross roundabout, and take the 3rd exit, signposted Porthtowan/St Agnes. Follow this road for 2 miles until you reach the Sevenmilestone garage crossroads, where you turn left to Porthtowan. Go straight over the next crossroads and you will start to see the Porthtowan bay ahead of you. Wind down the cliff road into the village, turning right where signposted "beach". Opposite the beach, you take a right into Sandy Road, and Kingsley Cove is the second cul-de-sac on your right.
(The property is only 5-10 minutes from the A30)

“Great location within walking distance of the beach” Towan Cottage is a surprisingly spacious house, which has everything you need for a short stay & is good value for money. Great location within a short walk to the beach and an easy drive to some of Cornwall's best scenic spots.

“Good value comfortable house in wonderful location” Cheerful, clean, friendly house with lots of extras. Stunning beach 3 minutes walk. Pub and shop nearby. Great place for a family holiday. Surfing walking spectacular.

“Comfortable, affordable family accommodation in a lovely seaside village” This is a very comfortable 3 story house only 1 minutes walk from the beach. The views from the middle and top floor are great, looking over the beach and to the sea where you can often see the surfers. For those interested in surfing, there are wetsuits and equipment at the house for use. The house also has a good speed broadband connection, tv, free view via sky box and all necessary kitchen appliances and utensils. The log burner is also very cosy. Our holiday was for 3 weeks over Christmas and we (family of 5) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner Andy was extremely helpful and also the housekeeper who dropped a change of bedding/linen when needed. Will definitely recommend.

“Fabulous” Towan Cottage is well-equipped, spacious and very comfortably furnished. Everything you could possibly want is there. The bed was really comfortable and enormous. We used the cottage as a base and spent the week travelling around Cornwall but it was a lovely place to come back to in the evening, especially for the wonderful sunsets. Had a very relaxing holiday helped by us having been extremely lucky with the weather - plenty of sunshine and absolutely no rain! Thanks Andy, will definitely book again.

“Excellent” One of the best holidays we have had in cornwall, location is second to none as most days we walked down to the beach and watched the sea at night!! Accommodation was clean, comfortable with great views.

“brilliant” The house was great really very close to the beach which was great for bodyboarding and surfing with the equipment all in the house to use including wet suits we also had some nice walks along the beach in low tide and it was nice to go to the beach 2/3 times a day the village had everything you needed if you did not want to go far,the top beadroom had great views of the sea and beach and with newquay and other local places only about 10/25 miles away not to far to go if you wanted a day out and it was great on an night time to have a dring outside and watch the sun set i have already booked to go back next year as its somewhere you can totally relax and enjoy yourself

“Happy Holidays at Towan Cottage in Porthtowan - fantastic time!!” This was the first time we had stayed at a holiday home very close to a beach and we couldn't have picked a better spot! the house was lovely and well equipped and very accommodating with all the amenities you would expect and more. Felt like home and enjoyed the very short walk to the beautiful surfing beach of Porthtowan. So good to be able to go to the beach several times in one day. Kids loved the body boarding and rock pooling and would definitely recommend it to friends and family!! Hoping to be able to come back in the future!

“A great stay” Had a wonderful week in Porthtowan staying in Towan cottage. You really couldn't wish to be much closer to the beach, and the surrounding area provided several interesting and at times, physically challenging walks. Having a few drinks in the Blue Bar whilst the sun set was a brilliant experience, and one that I should hope to repeat.

“An excellent place to stay” We loved Towan cottage, we found it very well equipped and charmingly decorated, with plenty of space and a loft room that has views over the sea. The cottage is just yards from a great beach, perfect for us as we do a lot of surfing. We've stayed in many cottages in Cornwall over the years and this is definitely the one we've liked best. Good value for money and somewhere you could go in winter as well as summer, as there's a wood-burning stove. We'll be back.

“Sea, sunsets and laid back surfers!!” We're just heading back from spending a week at porthtowan and we're already planning when we can return! The village of porthtowan is compact but has everything you need. Convenience store, great chippy and the fab blue bar! We spent many an evening sat watching the amazing sunsets enjoying a drink on the balcony of the blue bar! The sea was fab and the boys enjoyed learning how to bodyboard. The beach is made particularly inviting as it's manned by RNLI lifeguards who make you feel that bit safer! The cottage was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for more. It really was a home away from home. Extremely clean and tidy with the most comfortable beds ever! The wifi was a welcome addition although we found not having mobile service an advantage as you could really 'switch off'! We can't wait to come back! Thanks Andy!
