Beckerleg Beach House
House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Luxury Cornish Beach House. This utterly fabulous new house has it all – sensational, panoramic sea views, private access to the virtually deserted beach below and an imaginatively designed, contemporary and stylish interior, full of height, space and light.
Holidaymakers will love south-facing Beckerleg Beach House, completed October 2012, designed by the owners and architect to capitalise on the cliff top location with sweeping views across Mounts Bay from all three floors of the house.
Step out of the sitting room onto the full length balcony, or walk out from the kitchen/dining room or adjacent bedroom onto an enormous decked patio, perfect for al fresco dining and soaking up the sun. Listen to the waves gently lapping at the sea shore, or take a bottle of wine down to the beach and relax as you watch the sun slowly sinking over the sea. In the winter there is a log burner in the sitting room to keep you feeling extra warm and cosy, as the spectacular winter waves come rolling in.

The West Country region
If you are visiting West Cornwall for the first time then Porthleven is the perfect location - between Land's End and the Lizard - to explore with its glorious beaches, rugged coast lines and coastal paths. Traditional pubs, award winning restaurants, lively cafes, great value crab shack and a trendy deli all make Porthleven a gastronomic and social delight.
From Porthleven you can visit some of Cornwall's best towns and attractions including St Ives, Land's End, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth and the Eden Project.
Porthleven in Cornwall exudes Cornish charm and tradition. Set in the middle of a huge sweeping bay, the beach at Porthleven is ideal for a relaxing family holiday. Porthleven has arguably the most impressive harbour in Cornwall, being constructed during Napoleonic times and with the aid of French prisoners of war. Small fishing boats land their daily catch in Porthleven, much of which is sold in Porthleven cafes and restaurants and the award winning fishmongers. In recent years Porthleven has developed as one of the region's foodie hot-spots with numerous acclaimed restaurants and cafes and an annual food festival in April.
Around Porthleven harbour there are historic buildings, many constructed at the same time as the harbour around 200 years ago. Many fishermen's cottages and net lofts are located around the harbour area and the beach. The temperate climate in Porthleven and this area of Cornwall is partly due to warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The relaxing atmosphere is enhanced by the white painted buildings, the light reflected from the sea, and the fresh air.
Due to the strict conservation measures Porthleven in Cornwall remains an unspoit, working harbour. Porthleven attracts visitors who want to get away from it all and be inspired by the surroundings and the way of life.

"Breath-taking sunsets every night. Can't wait to go back"
After an early start from London to avoid the traffic we arrived at Beckerleg Beach House around 11am – the journey took us under 5 hours. I was staying there with my boyfriend and two other couples… More

"Amazing location in all weathers"
Amazing location next to cove, the main draw. We walked down the steps at end of the garden and then scrabbled down the rocks (only for the agile so my mother in law couldn't come down to the beach) every day - watched the waves and even swam in the sea on the calm days ( a couple of days it was wild winds and dramatic waves, wonderful to sit on the rocks and watch).
Property is only 6 months old so it was a surprise to see a few failings - broken stool in kitchen, toilet seat broken, light bulbs out, sticking front door, etc. also the place wasn't spotless, could have done with a better clean. Having said that, we all had a wonderful week and slept so well - great beds, bedding and really good bathrooms (particularly good walk in shower which was perfect for mum-in-law). So if a bit more attention to detail, this place would be definitely worth the highish rental (there were only 4 of us in a place for 6 so would be better value if a fully compliment renting).
Finally, good location for Porthleven (we saw other properties which looked nice but didn't have the parking so better to be slightly out of the town, with easy access to the town, but without the traffic nightmare)

"Amazing views; exceptional details. . ."
The house was fantastic. Immediately upon walking in you get a stunning view of the ocean. The quality and craftsmanship that went into the details are phenomenal and the house itself is top-notch. We felt like we were staying in a hotel. Far enough from the center of town that you don't get the crowds/noise but close enough to pop in for shopping and meals. Short walk to Loe Bar and the beach access was a big plus. Will definitely stay here again!

"I wish i could have stayed longer...AMAZING!"
I was simply blown away by this property. It is without question the perfect house and location for a relaxing holiday. It's gorgeous, elegant and beautifully decorated. Forget the view...this house has everything you need and then you look out of the window! The location is a perfect distance to walking/running on the cliffs or taking a stroll into the picturesque village of Porthleven. Restaurants and pubs are close by for a fun evening yet, the location of the house is such that you can look out of the window and feel totally secluded from the world. The private beach access is a wonderful addition to the amenities, the deck is second to none with a panoramic view and I absolutely loved waking up to the sound of the ocean. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer! I recommend this property without reservation. It's a gem!
