The Lamp House
House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
The Lamp House sits at the edge of Porthleven above the water on a quiet coastal road on the route to Loe Bar, the largest fresh water lake in Cornwall. The house has been renovated throughout and is beautifully furnished with Indonesian themes and equipped to the highest standards.
The Lamp House has a bright open plan sitting room/dining room/kitchen on the first floor, with glorious views from the four large picture windows. Sitting at the mahogany table on the comfortable window seats you can spend hours reading and watching the world go by below or enjoying a glass of wine as the sun sets. Ideal for families, friends and couples alike we hope you will love the Lamp House as much as we do.
Porthleven is a fantastic active fishing village with much to attract tourists - great restaurants, a lovely beach, beautiful walks and superb pubs. The village is an ideal base for exploring West Cornwall.

There is also a separate toilet upstairs also with a washing machine and dryer. The large open plan sitting room/dining room/kitchen has been furnished to an extremely high standard. Leather sofas with mahogany and teak furniture, wooden floor, digital TV with 32 inch flat screen, and DVD player. Table top music system with iPod docking station.
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible, and we know that the little things matter. So, all the beds are finished with quality pocket-sprung mattresses, with a choice of feather and down summer (4.5 tog) and winter (9.5 tog) duvets, both feather and fibre pillows, and pure cotton linen. There is a hair dryer and alarm clock in Bedroom 1. Our shower is incredibly powerful and always hot. The house has private parking for one car as well as free street parking right outside. And babysitting services are available as well as a travel cot, high chair and stair gate. No smoking though. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms fitted.

Through the stable door in the kitchen you reach a sheltered and private rear wooden deck with small terraced flower and herb garden for outside dining and relaxation.
The West Country region
From the heart of Mounts Bay you can drive south to the Lizard, west to Lands End and the numerous beaches in between. To the north are the surfing beaches and popular resort of St Ives. The historic town of Falmouth and the beautiful Helford River are just 20 minutes drive. For a special treat you can visit or even book seats for a show at the magical cliff top open air Minack Theatre (see its web site).
The area is a walkers paradise and there is nothing like a morning stroll along the coastal path, across the sand spit at Loe Bar, and on to Gunwalloe where you can have a superb pub lunch before returning home. Porthleven is a fantastic unspoilt traditional and active fishing village. With superb pubs, cafes, shops and award winning restaurants the harbour side is always bustling but rarely overcrowded like the tourist havens on the north coast. In fact Porthleven is often at its busiest on a stormy day when many locals gather around the harbour to watch the dramatic scenes of the enormous Atlantic waves crashing up against the cliffs.
Just five minutes walk from the house you will find steps taking you down to Porthleven's beautiful sandy beach, the east side of which allows pets all year round. The beach on the other side of the harbour is suitable for expert surfers, otherwise beginners can travel to Praa Sands just along the coast or to Gwithian on the north coast for spectacular surf.

"Faultless accommodation with stunning sea views"
The Lamp House has been beautifully furnished and thoughtfully equipped to provide very comfortable accommodation and offered far more than I would have expected from a holiday let. Everything was spotlessly clean and there was helpful and friendly information about the local area and top tips on the best pubs, restaurants, beaches and cliff top walks. But the single biggest selling point is the stunning outlook from the first floor lounge. The sea view is so unspoiled that even our teenagers were impressed! We also loved Porthleven (just ten minutes walk down the road) with its pretty setting around the harbour and great restaurants. We are already being pestered about a return trip and would most definitely recommend it to others.
