House | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
A lovely 4 bedroom traditional stone house by the sea, 75 metres from a safe shingle dog-friendly beach in the unspoilt fishing cove of Porthallow on the Lizard Peninsula.
Valley View is a comfortable, elegant house, full of character and charm with its rambling accommodation hidden from view behind a traditional stone facade built from local serpentine stone. All rooms downstairs have mellow French oak flooring, and comprise a spacious dining room, cosy living room with woodburner, and a large kitchen, with a range cooker, hand-made oak units and handmade ceramic tiles. There is a further sitting area with TV overlooking the sheltered patio with dining table for 8, and steps leading to the lovely garden where you will find a pond, and flower borders filled with a mixture of exotic palms, banana trees, and colourful perennials.
Upstairs there are two large double bedrooms, one en-suite, the other with a washbasin, overlooking the valley and the village. There are two further twin rooms to the rear. All upstairs bedrooms have pine floors. There is a family bathroom with power-shower. Outside there is a utility room with washer and tumble dryer, and a covered clothes-drying area.
There are two further outside areas: a gated bench area outside the front door, and a sunny side garden laid to grass.
Due to the pond and several steep changes of level in the hillside garden, young children will need close supervision.

The Cornwall region
Cornwall is Britain's favourite holiday location, famous for its fantastic coastline, beaches and breath-taking beauty; for its food and hospitality; and for its affinity with the arts and crafts. Attractions include the Eden Project at St Austell, the beautiful gardens at Heligan, the hustle and bustle of the resorts of Newquay and St Ives (where you will find the Tate's Cornish gallery), the UK's most westerly point at Land's End, and its most southerly at Lizard Point.
Porthallow is one of the last unspoilt coves in Cornwall, and has a picturesque pub, a tearoom and a craft gallery selling ice-cream. The beach is good for swimming, kayaking and fishing, and boats can be launched. Charter fishing is available locally. The village is close to the famous sailing waters of the Helford River, where boats can be hired, and to many other beautiful Cornish villages, including the breathtaking serenity of Helford, and the sandy beach and lovely harbour at Coverack. The South-West coastpath lies a stone's throw from the door (Porthallow is the half-way point on the route), and there are many other glorious walks from the village. Diving and windsurfing schools can be found close by, or you may prefer to relax on the beach and admire the views across the bay to St Mawes and the Roseland.
The Lizard Peninsula is probably Cornwall's best-kept secret. Still unspoilt by mass tourism, it is a mix of winding lanes, heathy uplands and rugged coastline and small coves. Here you will find good food, fantastic local ice-cream from Roskilly's Farm, small breweries making local beer, and a wealth of beautiful crafts and paintings. A wildlife lover's paradise, with some of the best fishing in the country, the South-west coastpath for walkers, and water sports on the beach, it is a haven of tranquillity, a world-away from the noise and bustle of 'up-country'!
