Bright modern, spacious apartment, only 2 years old and comprehensively equipped, is 5 mins walk from the beach, restaurants, shops and bars on the harbour quays where fresh fish is landed daily. The living room and large balcony look across the harbour . The area offers excellent opportunities for walking, cycling & drives through the breathtaking scenery of vineyards, mountains, pretty villages and ruined chateaux and cathar castles. Ideally situated as a base to tour the region - Canal du Midi, mediaeval walled town of Carcassonne and the picturesque seaside village of Collioure are all within easy access as is the Spanish border enabling a day to be spent in Barcelona.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

The climate is hot in the summer with temperatures of 80+. There is usually a breeze (the Tramontaine) which helps to keep you cool! Renowned for having sun for over 300 days of the year with mild winters.
Within travelling distance to 3 "beau village", Carcassonne, Villefranche de Confluent and Castlenou.
The pyrennees is 1.5 hours drive away for walking and adventure activities and skiing in Font Romeu and Mont Louis in the winter.
Excursions to Elne and Perpignan are worthwhile with the Palace of the Kings of Majorca in Perpignan.


Port Vendres / Cote Vermeille area

5 minutes from the nearest beach where you can go snorkelling.On the coast there are the popular resorts of Canet, St.Cyprien (Water Park) and Argeles with wide sandy beaches, nightlife, bars and restaurants.
Collioure is only 5 mins drive away (20 mins walk) and ther are local boats and "le petit train" which will take you there and back.
Banyuls is worth a visit for the vineyards and Le Cellier de Templiers is situated there where they give you free tours (in english) and wine tasting.

Cheap flights available to Perpignan(40 minutes), Girona (60mins), Carcasonne (90 mins) and Barcelona (120mins)
CarHire from these airports from a number of companies, eg Hertz. Europcar, Budget Cars etc.
Train from Perpignan to Port Vendres, local buses run from airport into Perpignan town
There are local taxis available too and the cost is about 100 Euros from Perpignan airport to Port Vendres

August 08-The flat was absolutely lovely, as was Port Vendres, perfect for us with a mixture of quiet nearby, a few bars and live music nights down in the town. Loved the clean, fresh minimal vibe of the flat, perfect for walking in to for a week's holiday, and the balcony - all lovely.

We had a fantastic time - many thanks ! The apartment was great for our needs. With a one year-old it was great for the following reasons: All in one lounge/dining/kitchen - meant we could keep an eye without stressing about where he was Floor kept clean easy - especially after meal times ! High chair - fantastic Travel Cot. Balcony - cherry on the cake - brilliant to have that type of space outside with shade and sun meant we could all eat outside at the same time, and the perspex grill at the bottom made us feel very safe with Arran. Also great place to spend evening time when you have a little one in bed early.Hope the above helps when describing to others - you can quote me whenever you like. Best regards Paul.

Had a great week here in August with our 2 young children.Weather was fantastic , The apartment was excellent: spacious, clean and cool. Prime position to walk down to the Harbour and enjoy the great seafood in the restaurants, Also to sit on the balcony and watch the boats come in and out. The kids liked the private beach 2 mins walk from the apartment. Had a very relaxing week with morning strolls to the shops and fish market .
Town is unspoilt and traditional French , heard English just once all week. Will definitely be going again. Thanks, Dave
