Barn | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Set in a quiet rural location (rural not remote) just off the main Atlantic Highway, we are ideally based to explore the whole of Cornwall with lots to do locally as well.
This highly rated single-storey barn conversion was once a holding-pen for the farm bull, but now offers a gorgeous comfortable retreat. Guests can enjoy Little Hendra's private enclosed patio and garden, which overlook the surrounding grounds that provide a foreground to the views out across open countryside to St Endellion Church. French windows lead into the open plan living-room whose welcoming decor is relaxing with neutral tones, under-floor heating throughout, pretty furniture in the sitting-area and elegantly styled bedrooms. All the rooms are light and guests will enjoy the contemporary restful ambience.
During the cooler months the biomass underfloor heating will keep you warm as toast but there is also a wood burner with fuel included to make the place even more cosy.
Whilst not fully equipped to accommodate disabled guests wheelchair access isn't a problem. The bathroom is a spacious wet room with screened off large shower area.

The Cornwall region
We are ideally situated for exploring the whole of Cornwall. Nearby is the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac village which is well known for the television series 'Doc Martin'. In the old fish sheds is a fishmonger and shellfish shop selling wonderful fresh crab and lobster straight off their boats. This lovely unspoilt village also has many little interesting shops, pubs and restaurants. Padstow is less than 20 minutes away and is also very popular and picturesque with lots to do . It is a foodie paradise with many top chefs located here e.g. Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth etc. Pleasure boat and fishing trips can be taken from Padstow's harbour side with lots to choose from.
The are several walks and coastal footpaths throughout North coast to enjoy. The walk from Port Quin to Port Isaac forms part of the coastal path and is typical of the scenery and coastline here - simply breathtaking! Bodmin Moor is not far away if you decide to hunt the Bodmin beast!
Tintagel (King Arthur's castle), Boscastle's lovely harbour, Wadebridge - voted one of the best place to live in the UK - a great place to join the Camel Trail for cycling and walking to Padstow. The Camel Trail, a disused railway line, suits all abilities and age groups as it flat and easy to walk or cycle. The trail also goes to Bodmin so either bring your bikes or hire some locally. The Eden Project is just 18 miles away and Charlestown, the home of the Tall Ships, just a bit further.
There are many interesting gardens in Cornwall due to the milder climate and National Trust properties, nearest being Lanhydrock all around 30 minute drive away.
After relaxing in our beautiful barn conversion, why not head off to one of the local sandy beaches - Rock, Polzeath and Daymer Bay. Walk along the coastal paths or beaches and breathe in the fresh sea air. Surrounding us are five local pubs (between 1 and 4 miles) that serve excellent food, or head into Rock/Padstow for a choice of restaurants, some Michelin rated - but during the high season you will need to book these well in advance. Visit the shops at Wadebridge; play golf at one of the many local highly acclaimed clubs; surf at Polzeath/Daymer beaches; try sailing and water-skiing in Rock; or surfing, kayaking and coasteering at Port Quinn and Port Gaverne. Stunningly beautiful and unspoilt Trebarwith Strand (beach) is also worth a visit about 10 mile's north.

"This cottage ticked all the boxes and more"
We have just returned from a most enjoyable stay at Little Hendra. Andrew and Colette, the owners, made us feel very welcome on our arrival with even a cream tea and bottle of wine in the fridge. Many other thoughtful extras were also provided for our comfort. The cottage itself has been lovingly restored to a very high standard and is by far one of the nicest we have stayed in. The log fire made it really cosy on a wet cold evening. The patio and garden were ideal for our little grandson to safely play in. The cottage is ideally situated for visiting this beautiful part of Cornwall whether it be fabulous beaches or stunning coastal walks. Port Isaac, Port Quinn, Rock and Padstow are all within easy reach as well as Trebarwith Strand which we managed to fit in on our last day. Also supermarkets very close. We have already recommended it to our friends and hope very much to return ourselves next year.
