The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall is famous for its spectacular coastline and quaint fishing villages.

Somewhere hidden in North Cornwall's stunning landscape is the perfect place for an unforgettable Cornish holiday. Will it be in spring, when the coastpath is lined with sea thrift? Or autumn, with the wooded river valleys cloaked in crimson and gold?

Port Isaac area

The Counting House Cottage sits in a Conservation Area and is, by car, within 10 minutes of the Atlantic Coast and 15 minutes from both Bodmin Moor and the Camel Estuary; all three areas are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Port Isaac (3.5 miles) is a quintessential Cornish fishing village, probably better known for its use in film & TV (in particular Doc Martin).

Nearby you have the exciting beach of Polzeath, with great surf and excellent surf schools. Day sea fishing can be found from Padstow and fly fishing on the camel river or on the Tamar River at Lifton (1 hr drive). There are several good golf courses in the area with the renowned links course at St. Enodoc. Riding can be found up on the moor and a great day out for the family is hiring bikes for a cycle along the Camel Trail. For further suggestions please look at the holiday information section of our website.

How to get there

Heading West from Camelford on the A39, after 3 miles at Knightsmill turn right to “St. Teath” on B3267, in village square turn left, signposted to “Pendoggett”, and the property can be found a couple of miles further on.

Heading East from Wadebridge on the A39, after 2.6 miles turn left into “St. Kew Highway” continue for a further 2.6 miles (driving straight through the village of “Trelill”), at crossroads turn left to “Pendoggett” and the house will be found just a short distance away.

Further details indoors:
The approach is by a long drive which leads up to both the main house and the cottage. The entrance hall leads off to the sitting room which has a mixture of old and new furniture. A large antique pine dresser, bookcases (both laden with books), together with comfy sofa and armchairs give the room a very cosy feel enhanced by an electric wood burning effect fire. There is a TV, Digibox, DVD and VHS player with many videos and games being available.

Across the hall is a small basic kitchen with an original Belfast sink, cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and sandwich maker.

Along the passage is the bathroom and then stairs. The bathroom is of a reasonable size consisting of a bath with electric shower, WC and wash hand basin.

The stairs lead to a landing with chest of drawers and hanging space. Off the landing are two rooms, the first is a twin bedded room and the other sleeps four people. Both rooms are light and airy with views over the garden and low sloping ceilings giving a lovely cottage feel.

Further details outdoors:
In the Linhay (garage) which is beside the cottage, there is a washing machine & drying facilities.

Outside there is ample space with visitors having full use of the garden and garden furniture is provided.
