The most prominent advantage of Venus cottage is its marvelous sea views via a balcony and full-length French doors, from the open plan living/kitchen/dining area. Rated 4* GOLD by Visit England.

The balcony overlooks the pub garden - great on a summers evening for watching the world go by and the sun setting over the sea. The original beams add a touch of heritage to the cottage whilst providing all the additions to make a relaxing stay. The stairs lead to the bedrooms and bathroom. Through the double bedroom a patio door leads to the sheltered courtyard garden. Both bedrooms have patio doors leading out to part of the pub's beer garden. Parking is conveniently available in a private car park nearby.

The sunny courtyard garden is shared and is made up of a level grassed area with flower borders and a childrens sandpit. It is south facing and very sheltered and private. Wooden garden furniture and sun loungers are provided. It is very safe and suitable for young children. External lighting in the courtyard is lit automatically during hours of darkness.

Venus is located a stone's throw from the picturesque and unspoilt National Trust cove at Port Gaverne which is perfect for swimming and rock pooling. OS maps of the local area are available - enjoy amazing walks along the coastal path just meters from your door towards either Port Isaac or Tintagel, or venture further afield to Daymer Bay, the popular surfing beach at Polzeath, cycle or walk the Camel Trail or visit Padstow.

The West Country region

Beautiful and unspoilt North Cornwall - 60 miles of dramatic Atlantic Heritage Coast - cliffs, coves, market towns, farmsteads and enchanting Bodmin Moor. Country Houses and Historic castles including King Arthur's Tintagel - From Bude to Bedruthan there's golf, walking, cycling, surfing and events for all the family all year round.

Port Isaac

Port Gaverne Cove with its sheltered sand and pebble beach - ideal for swimming and exploring rock pools. National Trust owned and run. Perfect for families. Bring your wellies. We provide the fishing nets!

Within less than a minute, you are on the North Cornish Coastal Path - miles of spectacular National Trust owned coastline, famous for its wildlife and scenic beauty.

Directly opposite Venus Cottage and just down the hill from Tregudda, is our local, The Port Gaverne Hotel, an early 17th Century Inn. The restaurant specialises in local produce, particularly sea-food. The comprehensive bar menu is available to guests - delivered to your door

Half a mile up the road is picturesque Port Isaac - a charming fishing village, where Doc Martin is filmed, and home to the folk singers "The Fishermen's Friends". Explore the pottery, art galleries and restaurants or visit the inshore RNLI lifeboat station. The maroons are frequently sent up during the year, and you can watch the lifeboat being launched. Port Isaac is still very much a working fishing village with catches landed and sold each day. You can buy Cornish pasties baked fresh each day in the local bakery and discover Squeezy Belly Alley and many other delightful back streets. During the summer, there is entertainment on The Platt, including the Port Isaac Singers and the St. Breward Brass Band.

Other events include the Floral Dance, the Port Isaac Regatta, Lifeboat Larks, and the annual Raft Race.

"Wonderful views but noisy at night and in the early morning"

The view from this cottage is unbeatable. You can sit on the verandah and watch the tide coming in and out of the very pretty bay.
However, the weather was hot while we were there and consequently the pub had diners outside and in the garden overlooked by the balcony until late at night and the sounds of merrymaking were clearly audible from the bedroom up until midnight.
We were then woken on a couple of mornings by the live-in maintenance guy, carrying out maintenance work to our property. These were not urgent jobs and included clearing out the gutters. Since our curtains were closed we were clearly still asleep....or had been! And we felt that these jobs could have been carried out when the property was vacant.

Thank you for taking the time to review Venus and all feedback is taken seriously by us. Great to hear you enjoyed the wonderful sea views, however I was sorry to hear about the noise at night – customers are meant to leave the external areas after 11pm, and I have passed on your complaint on to the pub. We are currently undertaking external maintenance works, whilst the weather is favourable, and are trying to ensure they cause the least disruption possible. We should, however, have double checked that you were out before carrying out the maintenance next to Venus – please accept my apologies.

"This is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway."

This was the first time that we had visited Port Gaverne/Port Isaac and stayed in the cottage with friends. The accommodation was spacious but at the same time felt very cosy. The kitchen was well equipped; the bedrooms were beautifully furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. The sea view from the cottage is fabulous and the balcony is definitely a bonus. This is a place that we would certainly visit again and highly recommend it for a relaxing break.

Many thanks for taking the time to review Venus - we're glad you liked it! We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

"I will never forget the fantastic view!"

We were looking forward to a short break with friends in a cottage by the Cornish sea and Green Door cottages did not disappoint us. The location was perfect and Venus Cottage gave us a stunning view of the sea and beach. The cottage was warm, cosy and well equipped - home from home! The beds were comfy with gorgeous white bedding. It was great to have a friendly pub on the doorstep too. A great weekend and one which we are going to do again as it's a perfect getaway destination from Bristol. Thank you Green Door!,

Many thanks for your review. We hope to see you back again soon.
